Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita Avam Jansanchar Vishwavidyalaya or Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication is a state university established in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. It was set up in 2004 as a statutory university under the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly act to facilitate education research and training in the field of journalism and mass communication.
This University is accredited by the University Grants Commission of India (UGC) and affiliated to the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It has been accredited grade ‘B’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). According to the NIRF rankings released in the year 2023, the university under the name of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication has secured a position in the range of 101-150 universities of India.

1. For the undergraduate mass communication and journalism, the candidate must have passed 10+2 in any stream with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
2. The following are the eligibility criteria for admission to the postgraduate mass communication and journalism programs: The candidate must have the minimum 50% aggregate marks in any discipline from a recognized university along with their bachelor’s degree.
3. For admission to the PhD programs, the candidate must have passed the Master’s degree in mass communication or journalism from a recognized university with at least 55% marks in aggregate. Candidates also have to pass the university entrance exam.
4. For journalism and mass communication PG diploma courses, candidates who have passed their graduation in any discipline obtaining minimum 50% marks in aggregate are eligible.
5. University also has short term courses in media studies, which is designed for 10+2 passed students with a minimum of 50% average marks from any recognized board.
6. The candidate belongs to the reserved category may be given some concessions in minimum eligibility requirements as per the norms of the university and government rules.
