To get admission for the courses of the year 2024 in Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak, the examinations will take place in the month of May/June 2023. Other standard national and state-level entrance test for admission will also be considered such as CUET for Under Graduate programs, LSAT for LLB, RPET for BEd, DSCE, Haryana for B.Tech Programs. The launching of the application is expected to be in the month of March 2023. In admission, candidates must complete registration forms on the web using the university admission link. Candidates shall be selected on merit basis and entrance test results to proceed with the next admission level of admitting students that include, submission of documents, payment of admission fees and lastly, admission confirmation. The next academic session is stated to be from August 2024. The new session will also open admissions to various general as well as professional courses in sciences, commerce, arts, law, education, engineering, and computer applications.
The admission for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes for the students in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak can be done both through online as well as offline.
To apply online, candidates have to log on to the official website for MDU located at http://www.mdurohtak.ac.in and there they will get the admission tab. To be able to do so, they have to first sign up and get their login information. With these they can login to the admission portal and then complete the admission application form using instructions given online. Students have to submit clear image scans of the required documents and also pay the application fees online by net banking/debit card/credit card.
For the off line admission, the candidates have to purchase the application form, this could be done by visiting the branches or download the form from the website. The form should be completed and accompanied by photocopies of the documents and application fee should be forwarded via post or hand-delivery to the university admission branch on or before the cutoff date. It is mandatory for students who wish to undertake their studies in Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak to produce certain documents for admission purposes. The documents should be deposited at the time of counseling and verification for the admission to the course. Documents Required for Admission in MDU Rohtak for Different Courses:
- There is currently no official admission notice or admission calendar for MSc programs in the university for the next year 2024. The admissions are usually done annually, usually in May/June for the next session in July/Augistry.
- To know the latest information on admission schedule for MSc courses, admission requirements, important dates, and how to apply for MDU Rohtak in the year 2024, candidates are advised to visit the university website www.mdu.ac.in from April/ May 2024.
- Some of the popular MSc courses in MDU Rohtak are MSc in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology etc They have limited intake for the course, and the admission is given on the basis of students’ marks in the qualifying examination.
- This general requirement consist of minimum qualification such as possessing a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (for instance, BSc) and minimum grade percentage required in the qualifying examination. This is something that depends on the particular program in question.
- MDU Rohtak offers a Master of Science or M.Sc programs in various disciplines and the admission is given on the basis of its entrance test. This entrance test is compulsory for the candidates to give for their admission to the desired course.
- In order to seek admission, one must have passed the B.Sc degree examination in relevant discipline from any university recognized by the University Grants commission as per the norms of admission stipulated in the eligibility criteria for different programs.

- These candidates are selected for counseling/admission process depending on their marks/rank secured in the entrance test and marks secured in their bachelors’ degree.

- MDU Rohtak also has its own entrance exam MERE for admission to B.Tech programs. I have assumed that the MERE exam is conducted in May/June anytime soon for the 2024-25 academic session.
- The eligibility criteria of this institute is relatively simple: candidates have to score well in the MERE exam, along with their 12th board examination scores. Sometimes category-wise lists are prepared regarding the cutoffs to mark the eligibility.
- Entrance examination and admission process are usually conducted in March-April 2024 and the applications for the same are released offline as well as online. Their application process is done online through the university’s website.
- MDU Rohtak provides B.Tech. Degrees in different specializations as Computer Science engineering, Electronics & Communication engineering, mechanical engineering ,Civil engineering etc.
- The total number of seats in all the B.Tech programs will be spelt out in the admission notification that will be released in 2024. The admission rules of this state are that 50% of the seats are to be filled by the students of Haryana.
1. For the admission process, the student’s scores achieved in JEE Main exam are taken into consideration. One has to clear JEE Main for the first step and then only s/he can sit for JEE Advanced.

This is done according to the rank secured by the student in JEE Main, option for preferences and the availability of the same.
5. Regarding the quota system, the admission and concomitant reservation policies of the state government are adopted here. These students are given relaxation in cut-of as compared to the general categories of students.
1. Application Process
- For the admission process of the students, MDU counsels its BTech course through the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES). You have to use online mode only for the registration process through the official website of HSTES that is www.hstes.org.in
2. Eligibility Criteria
- You should have completed 10+2 or its equivalent qualification from a recognized board with Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects and any one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology subjects.
- You are also required to have obtained at least 45 %aggregate of all the subjects mentioned above, which must be 40% for SC/ST candidates.
3. Important Dates
- For the application process is the beginning of the year particularly May/June. Please check with the official website of HSTES to confirm the specific dates.
- Fill up the online application form with all the specific details before the due date along with the amount of application fee.
4. Counseling Process
- After filling the admission form, the candidate has to go through the counseling sessions through the online mode which is conducted in several rounds depending upon the candidate’s rank and branch/college preference. These counselling are held in several rounds and the seats are then assigned with the student.
5. While applying for the counselling, please remember to visit the HSTES website frequently to get notified on latest updates like announcements, changes in the counselling process, new rounds of counselling and so on.
- MDU normally offers the PhD admissions once a year for which Students are required to appear for an entrance test and interview. The notification is normally published in national dailies along with on the website of the university namely mdu.ac.in.
- So, it can be expected that the notification for the 2024 admissions will be released probably in the March-April of the same year. The dates as to when the actual survey will begin are still unknown as of this writing.
- The eligibility criteria specified normally include having a Master’s degree in the relevant field with at least fifty five per cent marks. Of course, there are relaxations for the so-called reserved categories.

- The behavioral competencies that the candidates are being evaluated for during the course of the interview include research aptitude, subject competence, language proficiency, etc.
- Each candidate is expected to develop a research proposal in the area of the PhD research interest of the candidate, and the proposal has to be good enough and feasible.
- Additional requirements may include passing of NET/SLET tests in certain subjects or having published papers to their credit.
- They are awarded the seats according to their performance in the test which includes the academic experience, the research exposure and the interview.
- When preparing selection lists, it is important to adhere to the reservation policies as per the government’s set rules and regulations.
1. Since the details of Ph.D admission may vary each year, the candidates are advised to refer to the university’s website or the advertisement for the exact details of when the admission is open for the Ph.D program. That is usually in May/June calendar year depending on the application cycle.
2. First, decide which department and research area of the university you wish to apply to, and make sure that you are eligible for it – for most of the programs, you need to have a postgraduate degree with specified percentage of marks.
