The Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal provides the several of the undergraduate and postgraduate level programs in its 5 schools - School of Journalism and Mass Communication, School of Electronic Media, School of Culture and Media Studies, School of Animation and Visual Effects and School of Public Relations and Advertising. The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to Bachelor's degree courses vary by discipline: For admission into BA Journalism and Mass Communication one should have passed the 12th standard. For Animation & VFX, candidates have to clear an aptitude test as well as their 12th standard exams. It is considered to accept MPBSE or CBSE or any other equivalent examination for the admission. The CAT score of MP Domicile along with CMAT and JEE Main score is also considered for admission in the different programs like BA English, BA Hindi, MLib, MA Journalism and Mass Communication, MA Animation and VFX.

For online application, the candidates have to go through the official website of MCU which is www.mcu.ac.in. They have to first sign up by entering necessary information about them. After that, one can log in again with the ID and password given by the system to complete and submit the application form. As far as document submission is concerned, candidates also have to upload the scanned copies of photograph, signature, and other certificates of education, etc. as prescribed. The application fees can also be remitted online through net banking, debit card or credit card.
For offline application, candidates can get the application form from the university by pay cash or through Demand Draft. The completed form along with the required documents and application fee has to be sent before the last date to the given address. Admission procedures involve the following criteria: merit which is arrived at after sitting an examination and/ or test.
- The entry into BBA program often involves taking an exam organized by the university that one intends to join.
- The application process occurs at the end of May to June.
- Eligibility to apply for the jobs is having passed 12th standard in any stream with a minimum percentage as stated by the norms.
- The admission to the Institute is based on entrance examination, 12th standard marks, GD & Interviews.
- The admission is based on merit on the qualifying examination for the stream that the candidate desires (10+2 or equivalent).
- For general category students, the eligibility criteria require having a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. This minimum percentage, however, may vary for reserved category students.
- Another requirement is that the candidate must take and pass an entrance examination administered by the university. Of course, the shortlisted candidates are not only required to take a group discussion and personal interview tests as well.
- The following criteria are used while preparing final merit list for admission: Qualifying examination marks, entrance test, group discussion and personal interview.
- Extra curricula activities, general knowledge and communication skills are tested during the personal interview in that the interview panel evaluates students’ records.

2. To begin with the application process, click on the button ‘Apply Now’ and fill up the application form. Include all the relevant information starting from the personal information, academic information, contact information, etc.
3. Scan and upload photograph, signature, educational documents etc. as per the prescribed format and size.
4. Choose the net banking, debit card, credit card to pay the application fee or get the challan for offline payment.
5. All the details in the application form must be written carefully before submission.
6. Take a printout of the final copy of the application form along with the application number for further use in the future.
7. Attach the printed copy of the application form along with the photocopy of the required documents and fee payment receipt and send it by post or in person on or before the last date.
8. It is also important to visit the university website often to confirm the date of the entrance examination (where necessary),selection processes and other admission processes.
9. Attend any entrance tests, interviews or counselling sessions as scheduled in the case of students in respective schools.
10. If chosen the admission procedures and fee payment for the course should be completed within the time frame to confirm the admission.
