The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) is an autonomous institute which is funded by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. NIFTEM was declared a Deemed to be University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 and provides quality education, research and extension facilities in the field of Food Technology and Management. It has been accredited by NAAC and has been given an ‘A’ grade in the year 2022. In the NIRF Rankings 2023, NIFTEM stands 36th in the university and higher education category in India.
NIFTEM provides undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctoral courses in different specialties of Food Technology such as Food Engineering, Food Biotechnology, Food Process Engineering, Food Safety and Quality Management, Food Supply Chain Management etc The admission procedure begins in January every year and the written examination along with interview is conducted for admission. Among the courses that have been developed are; B.Tech in Food Science and Technology, M.Tech in Food Process Engineering, MBA in Food Management and Innovation and PhD programmes. The next academic session is the current one which is session 2024-25 and it is starting from July 2023.

National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination and must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects with not less than 50% marks.
2. For BTech Food Technology program, candidate have to complete 10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
3. For admission to MTech and PhD programs, the candidates should have passed Bachelor of Technology/Bachelor of Science in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Food Science or related fields of engineering with not less than 60% marks in aggregate.
4. Final year Bachelor’s degree candidates who are yet to write their final examinations can also apply but their admission will be given on condition that they meet the requirements of the admission list.
5. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be given relaxation in eligibility criteria as per state government norms.
