The National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is one of the most renowned law schools in India located in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. , With it running five-year integrated undergraduate law courses leading to B.A. LL.B.(Hons.) and B.B.A. LL.B (Hons.) degrees. The candidates who wish to study at NLUD have to write the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) with a view to get admission into the university.
Under the exam pattern of CLAT, there are five areas of testing: English Language, Current Affairs/General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logic, and Numerical Ability. From the CLAT score as well as the Academic Marks, the candidates are offered admission as per the above process. The total number of seats which we have is almost around 80. NLUD is selective in its admission process, as thousands of students apply to join this University annually for very few vacancies.
Process for filling up of Admission Form online Read the instructions carefully before filling up the form:
1. Photo identity card- Aadhaar Card, PAN card, Voter card for the purpose of identification and date of birth proof.
2. Documents that are required are the mark sheets and passing certificates of class 10 and 12 from a recognized board for the purpose of showing the eligibility and the previous academic performance.
3. Original and copy of the mark sheet and passing certificate if any for the course the candidate is applying such as CLAT or LSAT score cards.
4. Passport size photographs taken not more than a month before and must meet the university’s requirements.
5. Caste certificate and other relevant documents to justify the reservation category if the candidate is applying under quotas like SC, ST, OBC certificates issued by the competent authority.
6. Affidavit for change of name/surname in case the original certificate is not available or has been lost, transfer certificate, migration certificate, affidavit in case the student has a gap year, physically challenged certificate in case of the specific students.
1. UG admission to the University is done through University’s own common entrance test known as CLAT-Common Law Admission Test.
2. For this, the candidate must have passed Class 12 with minimum 45% marks for general candidates and 40% for SC/ ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer/Handicap and physically challenged candidates.
3. Any candidate from any stream in the class XII like Arts, Science, Commerce, eligible to apply.
4. There are no conditions of age or the number of times an attempt can be given for the exam.
5. The test comprises of 150 questions, in MCQ format, based on English Language, General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, Legal Reasoning and Current Affairs.
6. Depending on the merit of the scores achieved in CLAT examination, candidates will be granted admission to the NLU including the NLUD
1. Find out whether one meets the university set admission requirements in terms of education level, test scores and any other standard as set by the university.
2. Find a PhD supervisor from NLU Delhi that you think you share research interests with.
3. Obtain application form from the university’s website or download it online and complete the form with the required personal information, educational achievements, and research proposal.
4. The following documents should be submitted in duplicate: identity proof, degrees, marks sheets, recommendation letters, test scores whichever applicable.
5. The application form should be completed in all respects accompanied with a receipt for the application fee before the stipulated date.
6. In case you are among the shortlisted candidates, you are required to sit for an entrance exam and or an interview depending on the university’s set timetable.
7. The short listed candidates would receive the confirmation of admission in PhD programme in NLU Delhi after the verification.
1. For the post of Law Officer, candidates are required to possess 5 years LLB degree or its equivalent with 50% marks and membership of Bar Council.
2. The admission is done based on the CLAT LLM test for the students; The test covers areas such as Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Contract Law and among others.
3. NLU Delhi then invites students for an interview on the basis of ranking obtained in CLAT and the CLAT score.
4. During the interview round, aspects such as the students’ academic performance, work experience, research background, etc. are considered.
5. The final merit list will be compiled on the cumulative percentage considering the CLAT score [50% weightage], group and/or individual interview [30% weightage], and a candidate’s academic performance [20% weightage].
6. Reduction in marks and consecutive chances and relaxations in the eligibility criteria are admissible as per the government norms for SC, ST, OBC, PH and for the KMS candidates.
