NIMs is located in Hyderabad and is one of the top medical colleges that aims at offering various medical courses in all the fields. The MBBS program to be taught at NIMS has a certain standard to be met the candidate must have received at least 50% in physics, chemistry and biology and should have passed the 10+2 examinations with English as a compulsory subject. The candidates will also have to appear for the NEET exam and must secure the qualifying marks to be considered for admission. The MD/MS courses in the clinical departments such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, etc. demand MBBS qualification with at least 55% marks in the previous year’s aggregate and passing of INI-CET examination. DM/MCh super-specialty courses have specific entry qualifications that call for the candidate to have an MD/MS degree in the concerned specialty, 3 years experience in own specialty, passed INI-SS exam, etc. Some of the other paramedical courses like BSc Nursing & BPT will need 10+2 qualification with science stream together with minimum 50% marks & NEET scores.
The major courses that are taught here and their examination timing of every year are – MBBS ( NEET in first week of May) MD/MS ( INI-CET in last week of November) DM/M.Ch ( INI-SS in second week of December) B.Sc Nursing ( NEET in first week of May) BPT ( NEET in May first week). The registrations for all these exam and courses happen at least 3-4 months in advance from the date of the exam. The selection procedure is a means of determining and verifying the respective exam cut – off marks, and the counseling process based on merit which comprises document verification, choice filing and seat allocation. Minimum eligibility criteria differ for the various categories of reservation as per the rules and regulations of the Government.
Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) is one of the premier Medical Colleges in Hyderabad and it provides different medical courses in Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. NIMS admissions are only offered to those students who have completed their registration process through the official website of NIMS, which is www.nims.edu.in Admission can be done by selecting the link ‘Admission’ available on the home page of the website. It is possible to apply both through the Internet and using the standard paper-based methods.
For online application, it is mandatory to register and get a user ID to log in for the further process. They can then complete the online registration process by providing details in the application form, submitting scanned copies of the required documents, and paying the application fee through net banking, debit/credit card. After the submission of the application form, candidates need to take the final printed copy of the application form having the transaction ID for further use.
In case of offline application, the candidates must download the application form from the website, fill in the particulars legibly, and enclose the self-attested photocopies of all the documents as mentioned in the website. The fully filled form with a demand draft for application fee should be then posted to the address mentioned in the prospectus on or before the date mentioned. It is important for the applicants to note that applications are not accepted by NIMS Hyderabad once the due date has been closed, applications sent through post will also be rejected if they are sent after the due date. The admission will be based on merit performance in the entrance exams that will have been conducted by the NIMS.
- It has been widely known that admission process is usually conducted based on merit arising from an entrance examination administered by the university. There may also be some that would be restricted to particular category of people.
- The process of application is normally launched several months before the academic year commences. Date and admission notification for the particular session is available in the University website.
- There are certain rules that have been set down to qualify for the B.Sc. criteria for the admission to the respective programs may consist of minimum percentile in 12th board in subjects related to the course.
- In the case of B.Sc programs offered in NIMS University, the admission process depends on the overall performance of the candidate in the previous examination (10+2) or any other examination considered equivalent to it.
- For some programs, the university may set its own examination for entrance purposes, as well In some cases, there may be an entrance examination conducted by the university. Results in this examination will also be used in the selection process in addition to the 10+2 mark.
- In some courses like B.Sc Nursing, there may be additional screening criteria to be completed before admission such as an interview and medical fitness test.
- General category candidates are required to have passed 10+2 minimum 50% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry & Biology /Maths. The cut off relaxation is available for the reserved category students.
- For instance, some of the areas that may be considered when selecting students to admit may include; academic performance, co-curricular activities, games and dances, community service among others.
- Counseling for the final selection of candidates where they are called based on merit and then they can opt for their preferred programmes/branches if any are available.
1. Check the eligibility criteria: Ensure that you have attained the minimum standards in terms of education qualification and the percentage one needs to score in previous exams.
2. Choose your B.Sc specialization: Choose the specific program of B.Sc that you wish to study in NIMS Hyderabad like B.Sc Physics, Chemistry, Math, etc.
3. Apply online: To apply, please visit the NIMS university official website and navigate to the online application section for admission to B.Sc programs. They should complete all the fields on the form with the necessary information.
4. Pay application fee: While submitting the application form you will have to pay a certain amount of fee as the application fee.
5. Submit documents: Scanned copies of documents mentioned in the checklist of documents required such as the 10th and 12th mark-sheet, certificate, ID proof etc, photographs etc.
6. You should save and take a print out of the completed application for any future use.
7. Sit for entrance examinations as and when needed. For some programs, there may be their own entrance tests held.
8. Check admission status: Keep an eye on the admission’s website to check the selection by merit. Those candidates will be called for counselling and admission rounds who have been listed selected.
9. Complete admission formalities: If selected, then one needs to pay full fees and submit the original documents to affirm the admission offer in NIMS Hyderabad.
