NEHU Shillong is a central university which is situated in Shillong, Meghalaya and it is also known as North-Eastern Hill University. It was founded in 1973, in the past few years, it has received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and received ‘A’ Grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). As per the NIRF rankings 2023 NEHU stands 55 in the list of universities in India.
It provides different under graduate, post graduate and research degrees in various faculties like arts, commerce and business administration, science, law, education and many more. Some of the existing popular programs include B.A, B.Sc, B.com, M.A, M.Sc, M.com, BBA, MBA, B.tech etc. The admission usually begins in the month of May every year and the examinations are taken in June. Candidates are selected on the basis of their scores in NEHU entrance exam or national level tests namely JEE Main, CAT, etc as suitable to the program.
NEHU Shillong has a very efficient placement cell, which helps in the placement of students in various companies. Some of the leading organizations that recruit from this institution are ICICI Bank Ltd., Deloitte Haskins & sell, Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Tech Mahindra Ltd., KPMG, Ernst & Young and many others. In placement 2023, more than 80% of the deserving students were provided jobs with the highest salary package up to 18 LPA and the average salary from 5-6 LPA. The hire industries had been IT/Software, Banking & Financial Services, Education & Teaching and Marketing & Advertising.

North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong witnessed the participation of several firms and reputed companies such as TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, and Accenture among others. As per the placement data, more than 65% of students got placed in different sectors and all the appearing students who were eligible for placements got selected. The highest salary package was received from American Express with 18 LPA and on an average the salary package offered by the companies varied between 3.5-4 LPA. Some of the key employers were from the corporate sector such as ICICI, HDFC, Yes Bank and from government sector SAIL, ONGC etc wherein they were offering finance, marketing and HR profile for the graduates.
