PMIST is an autonomous institution located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu and the institution was named after the famous leader Periyar Maniammai. PMIST was started in the year 1997 and this institution is associated with Bharathidasan University and it is approved by AICTE. It has been accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade and boasts of a state of art Infrastructure. PMIST secured its position with 151 rank among engineering colleges in India in the recently declared NIRF rankings 2023.
PMIST has undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in various fields of study in engineering Technology, Architecture, Applied Science and humanities. The some of the well-known courses includes B Tech (CSE, ECE, EEE, Mech, Civil), M Tech (CSE, CAD/CAM), MCA, M Sc (Physics, Chemist, Maths), MA (English) etc. Some essential entrance tests are JEE Main for BTech, TANCET for MTech, NIMCET MCA and PG test for other courses in PMIST. This admission process normally takes place early in the year that is, in April.
It also has a very active placement cell that focuses on internships and final placements for all the branches of PMIST. The top recruiters which comprise the major companies are Infosys, TCS, CTS, Wipro, L&T and Dell. Around 500 students of PMIST got placed in the year 2022 with a maximum salary package of Rs 10 lakhs per annum offered by TCS. The placement percentage remains uncompromised at 85% in 2022. Some of the areas hiring students from PMIST are software development, engineering division, IT sector, analysis and manufacturing division. The placement record year on year has been consistently high and this affirms to the technical education that is imparted at the institute.

Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For admission to the BTech programs, one must have cleared their 12th standard examination in physics, chemistry, and math as the main subjects and that they should have scored an average of 60 % marks.
2. The eligibility criteria for MTech consists of having a BTech/BE degree in the related engineering field with minimum 60% of marks.
3. To be eligible to enrol for MBA, the candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university, and should have a valid score in CAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT.
4. To apply for MCA admission, the candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics as one of the subjects obtaining an aggregate of 50%.
5. For admission to MSc programs, one needs to hold a bachelor’s degree in the specific discipline like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics etc., with minimum mark aggregate of 50 percent.
6. MPhil and PhD research programs require a postgraduate degree in the related subject area along with the required marks in written tests such as NET/SET if required.

PMIST provides a multifold of under graduate, post graduate and doctoral programmes in the disciplines of Engineering & Technology, Management, Science, Humanities and Physical Education. PMIST is an Anna University’s member and is recognized by the AICTE organization. The institute aims at delivering quality technical education with significance of ethical and social values.
Courses and fees The BTech programs available are in civil engineering, computer science, information technology, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics at costs of about INR 75,000 per annum. MTech programmes are available in CAD/CAM, Communication Systems, Computer science, Thermal Engineering, and so on at around INR 100000 per year. Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology (PMIST) is handled by the placement cell which helps in conducting campus interviews by various reputed companies. Some of the multinational corporations that offer placements to students of PMIST include TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, and Wipro among others. In 2021, the tallest package was given by an IT services company offering Rs. 10 lakh per annum. For the academic year 2021-22, over 85% of campus recruitment for eligible students got selected in campus interviews and the top students received multiple job offers.
