Various fields such as Engineering, Arts & Science, Management, Architecture, Computer applications can be pursued from Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science & Technology (PMIST), Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The engineering department of the college are CSE, ECE, EEE, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Bio-Technology and Food Technology. The criteria for admission to various engineering streams is to pass the 12th standard science group examination with minimum of 50 percent marks. The entrance tests accepted include, JEE Mains, TNEA & the PMIST conducted test. For B.Sc.Here the requirement is that, one must have passed 12th standard in science stream and only the TNEA and PMIST exam are accepted. BCA is the department of ‘Bahasa dan Komunikasi Awal’ that accepts students who have passed 12th in any stream whether Science, Commerce, or Arts.
The streams and courses of study offered at PMIST are: B.E. (CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, EEE, Chemical, Bio Tech, Food Tech), B.Tech (IT, Food Tech) B.Arch., MBA., MCA, M.Sc (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), M.A (English) and M.Com. The examination schedules for getting admission into the different courses of PMIST are JEE- Mains –January 2024, first attempt, JEE-Mains- April 2024, second attempt, TNEA –June 2024, PMIST own entrance exam for B.Sc & BCA –July 2024. Admission begins with application and registration for the exams stated above, and in as much as the prerequisites need to be met, the process can be summarized as follows; TNEA is followed by counselling based upon the entrance test scores and then the certificates are verified and the final admission process happens according to the merit and the availability of the seats. The names of the students selected to write the PMIST exam will be displayed on the identified website.
The Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology (PMIST) located at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu has two modes of admission for applying; online and offline.
For the purpose of online apply please visit the official website of the university, which is www.pmmst.edu.in and then click on the ‘Admissions’ tab. Choose the program you are interested in, and complete all the fields of the online application form attentively. Scanned images of photograph and signature as specified to be uploaded, along with scanned copies of certificates such as educational qualifications. Pay the remaining amount of application fee using the options like net banking, debit/credit cards.
For offline application fill up the application form and submit it in a prescribed format which is available in the admission office and for that one has to pay a prescribed fee. Complete the form in the accurate manner as per the requirements and attach the necessary documents. The completed application form and original documents along with a set of photocopies and the application fee should be submitted at the admissions counter or posted/couriered to the institute address mentioned below by the stipulated date.
- The admission process for B.Sc programs is competitive with the students giving the entrance test selected based on their scores in the qualifying examination or standard 12.
- Some of the programs have an entrance examination which will be set and taken by the institute. Students who have written the test but have not made the list have to go for counselling to be admitted.
- For B.Sc courses the generally prescribed eligibility standard is pass in 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Minimum cumulative grades that is allowed can also differ depending on program or category being applied for.
- Candidates who had their schooling from Tamil Nadu state board, other state boards, CBSE/ICSE boards have different set of application process.
- There are separate seats for the scheduled castes/scheduled tribes and other categories that prevail according to government policies.
- Marks secured in relevant subjects in 12th standard exams, if any entrance tests were conducted, first and second counselling, subject choice and availability of seats etc decides the final merit list for B.Sc admission in the institute.

3. Click on the arrow next to the name of the course you wish to apply for, in this case B.Sc and click on apply now.
4. You will be taken to an online application form where you should fill in some details about yourself. Establish a login and a secure password that the user will use to access the application form.
5. Write down several details which include; personal details, academic details, communication details etc.
6. Scanned copies of required documents such as 10th and 12th board marksheets, certificates, photos etc. as per the requirement needs to be uploaded.
7. Make the payments for the application fees through suitable modes of payment accepted.
8. Save a copy of the completed form and take a printout for future reference if necessary.
9. Furnish the online application as detailed under admission notification before the date specified therein.
10. For more wait for the selection process, interview call if any and other possible admission procedures.
- The admission process involves selection from the rank secured by the candidates in TNEA engineering entrance exam conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu.
- However, TNEA results form only one basis of admission; the second criterion considered is the marks scored by the candidate in his or her Class 12 board examination. The least standard required is a pass in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and a cumulative percentage of 45% in class Xll.
- For the SC/ST students from the reserved category, the minimum percentage they got in their Class 12 examination is 40%.
- Seats are also available under management quota, where; admission is offered on merit in an aptitude test and interview conducted by the institute.
- For the NRI category, there are management quota seats wherein the applicant has to appear for an interview along with 50% weightage being given to the marks secured in the class XII examination.
- Preference is also provided to candidates with higher TNEA rank and marks in Class 12 for preparation of merit lists. The seats are then filled based on merit, and if the state government has made any reservation, and options that the candidate himself/ herself has filled during counseling session.
1. Application Mode: There are online application by visiting the institute’s online platform, and there is offline application as well. The offline application form is available from the institute along with the payment of the required fee.
2. Eligibility: To join the course, it is necessary that you have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with main subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. You should have passed with of least 50% in your total percentage (45% for SC/ST) to qualify for admission.
3. Entrance Exams: To seek admission in this institute you require valid score in TANCET,JEE Main, or PMISET which is the test conducted by the institute itself. According to these exams, the institute gives admission based on the scores of these examinations.
4. Application Fee: The application fee which is INR 500 can be made online or through demand draft.
5. Documents Required: , 10th and 12th standard mark sheets, community certificate (if any), entrance test admit card and scores etc.
6. Selection: Subject to the entrance examination results, qualifying examination results, number of available seats and the standard reservation norms.
