Sambalpur University is a regional university situated in the city of Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India. It was established in 1967 and the Government of India’s University Grants Commission (UGC) recognizes the institution while the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded it a B grade. The University was ranked in the NIRF, University rankings 2023 in the category of 101-150 in terms of overall ranking. It provides the degrees of bachelor, master and doctorate as well as courses in the fields of science, arts, commerce laws, education and management and more. Sambalpur University currently comprises more than 150 affiliated colleges situated in 5 districts of the Western part of Odisha.
Sambalpur University provides undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD level programs for Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education and Management faculties. The under graduate courses consist of BA, BSc, BCom, etc whereas the post graduate courses offered are MA, MSc, MCom, LLM, MEd and MBA. Usually, the admission begins in May each year when the university displays the application forms and the examination schedule on its website. The entrance tests are conducted from the month of June for offering admissions into the PG courses and for admission into the UG courses, the admissions are offered as per the merit obtained by the candidates in their respective qualifying examinations. Its academic session starts in August.
As for the placements, many renowned companies such as Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Mindtree etc come to Sambalpur University for placements and conduct campus interviews for the selection of the students. About 17 percent of MBA students get placed in B-schools and about 60 percent engineering students in reputed engineering companies with average salary of 3000-5000 INR. In the recent placement sessions, MBA students have got the highest salaries up to 8 LPA and engineering students have got up to 6.5 LPA of salary packages. Sambalpur University Placements 2024
Sambalpur University reveal that the university has been experiencing a large number of placements in recent years. Some of the leading employers that frequent the campus to source graduates are Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, and Cognizant among others. Last year in one of the batches the result was a whopping 58% of the students who were eligible got placed. The maximum number of offers were received in the IT sector where the maximum packet offered was Rs 18, 000 per month by a software company. The placement percentage was 87% and the average salary package offered was Rs 4.2 lakh per annum.
