Sambalpur University is situated at Sambalpur, Odisha, providing Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs under faculty of arts, science, commerce, law education, management etc, the eligibility criteria differs according to the departments. For BA, BSc or BCom candidates must have passed +2 examinations with not less than 50 percent marks. In case of B. Tech, a candidate must have passed +2 Science with at least 60% marks. MA, MSc or MCom need graduation in the specific field with an average of fifty five percent marks. MTech needs BTech degree. For LLB, the candidate must be a graduate with any degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks. OJEE conducted by the government and other entrance examinations are recognized for the admission to the BTech programme. Other bachelor programs accept +2 exams marksheets The program should accept the marksheets of +2 exams of other bachelor programs. University also have integrated programs as five years integrated LLB and three years integrated BA LLB for +2 passing certificate.
The university has released the date sheet of UG & PG annual/semester examination to be conducted in the month of June/July in the year 2024. Admission process is conducted in the month of May 2024 for new session of education. In terms of courses there are several including BA in Economics, English, History etc, BSc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Botany, Zoology etc, BTech in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil engineering etc. BCA, LLB, BEd, MEd, MCA, MTech, MA, MCom, MSc etc The students wishing to take the admission in any course should submit the entrance test score card along with mark sheet and certificate of the qualifying examination either online or offline. The specific procedure of applying for admission will be included in the admission brochure which will be hosted on the website of the university by the end of April, 2024.
- Admissions to M.Sc. Generally, scholarships and other related financial support or grants For graduates are often proffered based on students’ performance in entrance examination or academic achievement in the corresponding bachelors degree. The admission notifications including details of admission process would be published on the website of the university.
- Admission normally takes place during the period when students are out of school especially during the period of May to July for the academic year that starts in July/August.
- Some common M.Sc. of the courses offered includes Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology Computer Science and many others.
- Application Process: University application process is often done online by filling a form and uploading relevant documents from the comfort of the candidates’ home. There is generally an application fee that the patient has to meet for an appointment with the doctor.
- Eligibility: Candidates must have completed their bachelor’s degree as a minimum and there are usually minimum percentage marks required as per university norms. Some universities also have their own management entrance examinations for which students compete with each other.
- Important Dates: Universities announce admission schedules which include application submission deadlines, if any, entrance examination dates if any, group discussion/interviews if any, merit list, counseling etc.
- Seat Availability: Total seat matrix that the university offers to the students belonging to various MBA specializations. It is also possible that there are additional categorical distributions.
- Fees: Tuition fees and other charges are advertised by universities before the start of the academic year. There may be possibilities of few changes depending on the nature of the candidates for the particular post.
- Selection Process: Generally depending upon the candidate’s rank secured in any one of the entrance tests like CAT/MAT/XAT or University level test, performance in academics, group discussion, and personal interview etc Counseling sessions decide the final selection.
- To gain admission into the MBA programme, the candidate has to sit for the CET organized by the university and performance in this test determines the outcome. Candidates who clear the initial stages of screening are required to sit for group discussion and personal interview.
- CET exam applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree with not less than 50% marks or 45% in case of SC/ST category for appearing in the CET.
- Candidates are expected to sit for the CET exam on aspects of general awareness, logical and analytical skills, English comprehension, and numeral ability.
- Qualified candidates are selected for having undergone through CET exam, and they get selected for the GD and PI rounds. The last choice includes the outcome of the CET, followed by group discussion, and lastly the personal interviews.
- Full time MBA programs commonly do not require prior work experience. However, priority may be given to the candidates with prior work experience to be awarded preference in the selection.
- Other than knowledge, clarity of speech, personality, confidence level, awareness about current events and aptitude are the other tests conducted in the GD and PI and are considered for the final selection.

7. Visit regularly on the website for the admit card, exam dates and any other information. Write university level test and or appear for interview if the course has the feature.

- Final shortlisting is done after considering the entrance test score, interview, and the marks obtained in the Postgraduate level. It involves allocation of candidates to supervisors depending on the number of the available seats offered to each supervisor, the research subject of the candidate and the area of specialization of the supervisor.
- There can also be written tests in the concerned subject for which there may be qualifying written tests followed by a presentation/viva-voce.
- Adequate number of seats per section and course for SC/ST/OBC/PH etc., categories are reserved as per the UGC guidelines and Government norms.
1. The advertisement or the website of the university would mention about the Ph.D. admission and the last date for the same should also be checked.
2. Select the department in which you want to study and find out the faculty members who can help you with Ph.D research. Talk to them concerning the areas of focus and how many openings are there before applying.
3. Acquisition of the Ph.D application form can be done either by visiting the university website to download it or by getting it from the university office. Take your time going through the eligibility criteria as they are posted.
4. Complete the application form in the correct way and enclose documents that are usually needed such as- attested copies of the certificates and mark sheets, research proposal, NOC if you are serving in any organization, and finally the proof of payment of the application fee.
5. The application form should then be filled and have the required documents attached then submitted to the relevant department or university office not later than the set date. This means that applications that are sent after the due date may not be processed.
6. It is advisable to sit for the entrance examination or interview as mentioned in the Ph.D advertisement with regards to the entrance examination or interview schedules and selection procedures.
7. Applicants who meet the requirements shall be granted a provisional registration and additional information on how to get confirmation on the Ph.D registration based on research proposal and other pertinent criteria such as presentation of research plan etc.
