Sampurnanand Sanskrit University is an esteemed university in India that is situated in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh primarily dedicated to the teaching of Sanskrit and related studies. It was started in the year 1958 and has got the approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and got ‘A’ grade certification of NAAC. However, its ranking among the universities in the NIRF ranking of 2023 is 55th. 

The university has the provision of courses in several fields of study such as Veda, Vyakaran , Sahitya, Darshan, Jyotish, Dharmashastra and so on. In the various courses offered at UG, PG, doctoral, diploma and certificate level, admissions are offered on the basis of university examinations held every year in May-June. The college has a competent placement cell that has been engaged by renowned recruiters such as ICICI, Infosys, Wipro, DE Shaw, and Teach for India. About 83% of the aspirants were offered placements in the academic year 2022-2023 with the highest package going up to Rs 12,000 per month. I was able to determine that the median salary had risen to Rs 4.2 lakhs per annum. Some of the major fields of employment include teaching profession, translation/ content writing, software companies/ IT industries. Sampurnanand Sanskrit University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. The candidates should have cleared the 10+2 or equivalent examination with 50% pass marks for admission in course such as BA, BSc, BCom etc.

2. For admission into MA, MSc, MCom courses, the candidates should possess a three-year bachelor’s degree from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission with not less than 50% marks. 

3. For admission to MPhil/PhD programs, candidates need to possess a master’s degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate for admission to the MPhil/PhD courses through an admission test and interview. 

4. The government norms of 5% relaxation in total percentage of marks obtained by the candidate is provided to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories of SC, ST, OBC, PwD etc.

5. In order to register for the courses offered at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University it is mandatory that the candidate has a knowledge of the Sanskrit language up to school or bachelor’s level. 

6. There may be other qualifying conditions that you have to meet depending on the program of your choice, for instance, BEd has a requirement of prior teaching experience. It is however advisable that the University prospectus should be referred to for a detailed updated eligibility for all programs.

Sampurnanand Sanskrit University: It is at Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh and it came into existence in 1958. It provides many general diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level courses in both traditional shastras and modern curriculum. 

The university awards Bachelors Diplomas that take 3-4 years to complete and comprises of Veda, Vyakarana, Sahitya, Jyotish, Dharmashastra, Mimamsa, Vedanta, Nyaya, Sangita and the modern subjects. Membership prices vary between INR 5,000 to INR 8,000 per annum.

In the postgraduate level the university offers 2 years master’s programmes in Shastras apart from Acharya degrees. The annual fees are between 3000 INR to 5000 INR. Another degree that can be attained following the completion of doctoral research is the Vidyavaridhi and Vachaspati degree in various shastras.

The following are some of the corporate organizations that have been offering employment to students from this university: TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and HCL. The maximum salary offered during the placement drive in 2021 was Rs 8,00,000 PA, and the minimum salary offered was Rs 3,00,000-4,00,000 PA. As per the data of the last year, approximately 60 percent of the total students have been selected through campus interviews. The recruitment is mostly for profiles like software developers, business analysts, technical writers etc The university’s placement record is comparatively average than other central universities of India, but, to improve the percentage of placement the university is trying to conduct placement talk, skill development programs and ensuring the participation of maximum students for the placement process.
