Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) is a university of agriculture based in Jammu, India. It was set up in 1999 and is accredited by the University Grants Commission of India being the UGC. SKUAST-Jammu has been accredited NAAC grade ‘A’ in the year 2022. According to the NIRF ranking 2023, SKUAST-Jammu stands at 76 among agricultural universities in India.
The courses provided by the university include, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate in various fields in agriculture. These includes; Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Food Science, Horticulture, Forestry as well as Fisheries. At postgraduate level, the university offers Masters of Science and Masters of Business Administration in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Plant Breeding and Genetics among others. UG programs require entrance exams held in May-June and PG programs require SKUAST CET conducted in the same exam session. The admission processes for the 2024 batch will begin in May 2023.
SKUAST-Jammu has a functional placement cell that ensures students secure their jobs through employers’ companies. Some of the recruiting companies are Godrej Agrovet, Dhanuka Agritech, Nufarm Limited, JK Agri Genetics, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Reliance Retail etc. The highest salary offered in the 2022-23 session was INR 15 lakhs per annum and more than 80% of students got placed. The basic salary and other remunerations inclusive of the median pay-scale range from INR 6-8 lakhs per annum. SKUAST-Jammu, which has rich industrial & academia linkages, strives to develop more young agri-professionals for the future.

1. For undergraduate programs, the qualification required is 10+2 or equivalent in science stream with not less than 50% marks for general category and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
2. For postgraduate programs, the students require relevant bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC category). It is also important to note that some programs may have other specific qualifying requirements.
3. For Ph.D. programs, the students need a post graduate degree in the related subject with minimum 55% marks and have to pass exams and interviews at university level.
4. For diploma programs, students need to have minimum 10+2 pass qualification in science stream from a recognized board. Passing grade differs depending on the program.
5. It is important to note that SC, ST and OBC students get a concession of 5% on the minimum marks required for all programs.
6. Universities across the state provide extra relaxation in cut-off percentages for Kashmiri migrants and students studying away from their homes and at all levels of programs as per the norms of the respective university.
