Sikkim University being a state public university is situated in Sikkim, India. Formed in 2007 by an act of Sikkim Legislative Assembly and gets its recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC). Sikkim University was graded as ‘A’ grade under the accreditation of NAAC in the year 2016. As per the NIRF rankings revealed in the year 2023, Sikkim University stood at the position of 151 in comparison to all the universities in India.
University has a good number of disciplines including science, arts, commerce, engineering, law and much more and it has courses in all the fields. Some of the main programs offered include Btech computer science, B.A Economics, B.Sc Botany, LLB, B.B.A. and PhD and many others. Admissions generally commence in March every year while the exams are held in April- May. Candidates are then subjected to counselling sessions before admissions are complete latest by July 2024 for the next academic year.

Sikkim University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Bachelors: 10+2 pass with fifty percent marks in relevant field
2. Masters: Minimum 50% marks in graduation in relevant subject of the field of study.
3. MPhil: Minimum 55% in Master degree in the subject of Social Sciences/Humanities/Development Studies.
4. PhD: Masters degree holders with at least 55% marks in the respective subject in the final examination and clear the entrance exam.
5. Integrated Masters: To be eligible for the post of the Assistant Foreman and Junior Mechanic, the candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination in the relevant stream with at least 50% marks.
6. Integrated PhD: A Bachelor/Masters degree in the relevant subject with 60% marks and pass in the Common Admission Test.
