Coimbatore’s Tamil Nadu Agricultural University TNAU is one of the famous universities that provide under graduate and post graduate courses in various areas of agriculture. The minimum cut off mark for the programme is 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics in 12th standard. Students can apply for it through TNAU entrance exam and also through NEET UG exam. BSc Horticulture entails credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics in 12th with 50% grades. The admission is based on the test held on Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Some of the other UG programmes offered by the university include: BTech Food Technology BSc Forestry BVSc & AH, all of which require 50- 55% marks in PCB/PCM. The MSc Agriculture, MBA Agribusiness, MSc Horticulture and other postgraduate programmes are expected from the candidate who has relevant bachelor degree with minimum 60% marks. All entrance tests including GATE/TNAU are recognized.
For the 2024 batch, the admission process is expected to be initiated in May, 2023. Major agriculture programs at the undergraduate level include; BSc Agriculture, BSc Horticulture, BTech Food Technology, BVSc & AH and BSc Forestry while at post graduate level they offer MSc Agriculture, MSc Horticulture and MBA Agribusiness. The entrance examination of TNAU is conducted in June, whereas NEET UG is in April-May 2023 and GATE exam in April-May 2023. TNAU’s program application forms are released in May 2023 for the academic year and the entrance exam form can be completed online with the fee. It is on merit basis, qualifying exam and the performance of students in their entrance test. The admission process comprises counseling sessions from the month of July 2023 for the distribution of seats in the respective programmes in TNAU’s nine constituent colleges.

1. Academic Merit: Candidates get selected mainly on the basis of the merit they obtain in the qualifying examination like the XII standard. The more percentage/marks obtained by the candidate, the more the probability of selection.

Reserved Quotas: As per the Tamil Nadu government norms, every organization has a provision of reservation of some percentage of seats for the candidates belonging to reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC/EWS. In these categories, candidates mean some reparation to the cutting edge versus open category.
3. National/State Level Entrance Tests: TNAU may provide weightage to performance in relevant B.Sc programs national or state level entrance tests like NEET, TNAU Agri Entrance Exam etc for some B.Sc programs.
4. Personal Interview: Candidates who are selected for the shortlist may have to face an interview round that tests aptitude or interest in the B.Sc program that was applied for. Interview result can determine who among the candidates will make it to the final list.
5. Extracurriculars: Activities that are considered to make up for extraordinary achievements in the extra curriculum as it relates to the B.Sc program may be deemed favorable for a candidate.

2. After applications are open, access the university websites and search for the online form to apply for B.Sc.
3. Select the program and the specialization in B.Sc that you wish to pursue. There may be available such programs as Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering and other related ones.
4. Name and address, education history, phone number, email address etc should be filled in the application form completely.
5. Scan and upload all the documents such as photograph, signature and any other proof of age, 10th and 12th standard mark sheets as per the prescribed size.
6. While making the application fee payment, opt for net banking or debit card or credit card etc.
7. Review all the information entered and then finally submit the TNAU application form. Remember the application number which will be useful when the ASP.NET developer asks for it.
8. Wait for the merit list and selection criteria. It is recommended that the group should check the website and the online portal frequently for updates.
9. If selected, bring all originals of the documents and fees for completing admission processes by the set dates.
- Firstly, the admission process takes into account the scores achieved by the candidates in the TNAU common entrance examination. This exam assesses the candidate’s capabilities in cognitive abilities, deductive thinking, and numeracy.
- The entrance exam only determines merit lists for the general category students while the reserved category students (OBC/MBC/SC/ST) have their own merit list.
- As for the general category candidates, the basic criteria require the candidates to have obtained 50% aggregate in the common entrance test conducted by the university. For reserved categories the minimum score is set 40 out of 150 mark.
- Besides passing the TNEA entrance exam with the minimum required marks, the candidates further have to meet the eligibility criteria set by TNAU concerning the 12th standard for the subjects offered and marks secured in those subjects.

1. TNAU B.Tech Course: Verify the B.Tech eligibility criteria at TNAU. You basically need to have done your 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. There could also be certain minimum marks prescribed for the students to qualify in the test.
