The Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU), Chennai is one of the universities of Tamil Nadu which offers various courses in teacher education across discipline. The B.Ed course is designed for the graduates in arts, science commerce and computer science having minimum 50% aggregate score in the UG level. For B.P.Ed, candidates should have passed a bachelor’s degree in physical education or any other related field with a minimum of 50% of marks. TNTEU also offers integrated B.Sc courses as integrated courses with a duration of 4 years. Diploma in Education (B.ED) for students who passed 12th standard and B.A. B.ED for Arts stream students with minimum 60 percentage of marks in 12th standard. Admissions: The university accepts students who have taken exams like state board, CBSE, ICSE and other school/college tests recognized by the TN government.
TNTEU provides the B.El.Ed, M.El.Ed, M.P.Ed, M.Phil and PhD courses for the academic year 2024-2025 across Science, Social Science, Language, Commerce, Physical Education and Arts streams. Here are the exams schedule – for B.Ed CET exam will be conducted in the month of May 2023, M.Ed & other post graduate entrance exams in the month of June 2023. The application forms are provided on the official website only and the process begins from the month of March, 2023. Candidates should meet the initial requirements to enter the course level and pass the university/state exam to get enrolled. The admission is granted as per the merit in the qualifying examination and the entrance test conducted by the concerned institute. It is an open admission process taken through counselling depending on the merit and reservation policy of Tamil Nadu. The academic session of admission in the 2024 year group is expected to begin in July 2023.

- The B.Ed program in Tamil Nadu offers admission through a test conducted jointly by the Tamil Nadu government. The test is commonly known by its acronym TNTET, which stands for Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test.
- For the purpose of appearing for TNTET, the candidates must have passed Bachelors’ degree (B.A, B.Sc, B.Com etc.) with 50 percent marks in aggregate (45 percent marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH/SEBC candidates belonging to non-creamy layer).

1. Go to the university’s website or look at newspaper to find the notification for the admission to B.Ed program. They normally start in the month of May-June for the following year or any other year depending on the user’s preference.

- Overall, application are generally launched in May/June for the academic year entry in the July of the same year. The university has not made the notification on the specific dates for 2024.
- The candidates must possess a Master’s degree in education with minimum 55 percent marks. Some positions may require candidates to possess MPhil degree since it can be an added advantage to them.
- It is an entrance examination that the university may conduct and an interview may also be conducted. There are questions that aim at assessing research ability and skills, content knowledge and understanding of the domain.

- Regarding selection, the weight age given for the entrance test is 70% and the weightage for interview is 30%.
