Tamil University is a university which is situated in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India and it is state university. The institute was established in 1981 with the mission of popularizing and spreading research in the field of Tamil language, literature and culture. Tamil University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. In case of undergraduate programs, the applicant must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from any recognized board along with the minimum marks as prescribed by university. Advertiser and stream prerequisites may also differ depending on the program offered.

2. For postgraduate programs, admission is based on the candidates’ bachelor’s degree in the relevant specialization from a recognized university and with the minimum percentage as per norms.

3. For MPhil and PhD admissions, the candidate must possess the minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the Postgraduate Degree. Moreover, candidates should clear eligibility tests & interviews.  

4. In the case of diploma and certification programs, it is not mandatory to have a Degree, the applicants can be 10th or 12th passed depending on the programme. Some positions may also require prior work experience to be relevant to the job applying for.

5. As per the government rules, reserved categories candidates including SC, ST, OBC, EWS can claim percent age relaxations on eligibility . PWD candidates, also, benefit from some exemptions.

Tamil University is one of the state universities which is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. The university was founded in 1981 with the aims and objectives of promoting and propagating the study of Tamil language, literature and culture. The total percentage of placement was around 71% during this pandemic situation.
