Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is a prestigious institution which enjoys the status of an autonomous university under the Department of Atomic Energy of Government of India. 1. Masters degree in concerned subject such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science etc. is mandatory for admission to PhD and Integrated PhD programs.
2. Applicants must have their Bachelors’s degree in science or engineering for 4 year BS MS dual degree program with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
3. Integrated MSc/MTech/MS/MPharm/PhD in biology, BSc/BTech/MBBS degree with minimum 60% marks.
4. Junior and senior research fellowships need NET/GATE/JEST score and post graduate degrees for applying.
5. Job opportunity for BSc/integrated MS students in first, second, and third year through the summer apprenticeship programme in India.
6. Student in class 11 and 12 in high school can apply for two weeks winter programme if they are studying physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology or computer science.
The Placements of the students have also been very good and every year more than 90% of the students of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) get placements. Companies that actively recruit are Technological giants: Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung Research, Consulting giants: BCG, McKinsey, Financial giants: Goldman Sachs, Research giants: ISRO, BARC, and the Institute itself. The maximum salary provided in campus placement for the year 2024 was INR 29.6 lakhs per annum over a profile of quant investing firm. The salary range is INR 10-18 lakhs per annum with the average of INR 15-18 lakhs per annum. TIFR students are able to secure jobs in many of the best national and international organizations because of the high level of training that they undergo at the Institute.
