The University of Mysore (UOM) is a statutory university founded in 1916, which makes it one of the oldest universities in India. It is a private university located in Mysore, Karnataka which has NAAC Grade A certification and is ranked at #33 in the NIRF 2023 ranking of universities. The UOM has been accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is held in high regard for its teaching and research quality in numerous fields. More than 150 affiliated colleges and 5 constituent colleges of over two lakh students come on its campus for studying annually.
The university provides more than 55 programs in faculties like arts, commerce, education, engineering, law, science, social sciences etc. Some of the hot selling under graduate courses are B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, B.C.A, B.B.A while the post graduate courses are M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, M.B.A, M.C.A etc. Annual examinations take place in the months of April-May usually. B.Com Admission for the academic year 2024 will start in the period of May-June 2023 through PGCET, KMAT etc.
The UOM has an organisational Training & Placement Cell that helps students to gain internships and employment opportunities with organisations. Largest and most active recruiters are Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, Deloitte, ICICI Bank etc. More than 3000 students have been placed in 2022 and the highest pay package offered is INR 45 Lakhs per annum. The percentage of placements secured by the graduates is equally commendable at about 86% and the median salary levels hover around INR 6.5 lakhs per annum, which clearly explains the rewards that its graduates are likely to earn in their chosen fields.

Currently, the leading companies that offer employment opportunities to the university graduates include Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Accenture, and Cognizant. The largest number of companies who visited the campus in the recent years offered a maximum salary of Rs. 12 lakh per annum from Microsoft. The pay scale offered to the students is moderate with an average of 3 lakhs to 6 lakhs rupees per year. Approximately, 60% of eligible students are getting placements through campus recruitment programs every year. Some of the leading organizations that seek graduates also include information technology service providers, core engineering organizations, manufacturing industries, banks and financial service providers. The placement cell also offers training in aptitudes, technical skills, and personality enhancement training for recruitment and interview programs.
