The B.Sc. in Food Sciences is an undergraduate course in India, which takes three years of the course with six semesters. In more detail, the program encompasses the disciplines of the food science like chemical composition of food, microbiology of food, hygiene and safety, methods of food processing and preservation, food engineering. From the development of food science and technology, students learn about the scientific angles of food, the processing of food, packing and distribution, preparation, and utilization of food.

The ordinary entrance tests that apply for admission to the B.Sc, the eligibility criteria for Food Sciences program may include national level entrance examination such as NEET or state level tests such as CET or any other examination conducted by different colleges and institutes offering the program. In addition to this, many institutes also look for the candidate’s performance in Class 12 board examination in Physics, Chemistry Biology/ Mathematics to admit the student directly.

BSc Food Sciences Course Eligibility 2024

1. A candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Maths) from a board recognized by the central or state government with at least 50% marks in aggregate. 

2. Some of the colleges also require students to pass an entrance exam as they need to take the JET, GATE.  

3. Regarding the admission procedure, there is no limitation of age for getting admission into this undergraduate course.

4. Students who have passed in 10+2 level with science subjects can apply even they are from arts and commerce streams.

5. Personal interview round is one of the prominent processes that some colleges use before admitting the students. 

6. A high level of physical fitness is necessary as the courses that are offered in the field of food science include laboratory exercises.
