The Directorate of Distance Education is a recognized study center at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata to offer distance learning courses. It was established in 1962 and is accredited by Distance Education Bureau (DEB) and affiliated by University Grants Commission (UGC). The Directorate has been accredited with B++ grade by NAAC. According to NIRF ranking 2023, Rabindra Bharati University was ranked at 76th position under University category.
The Directorate provides different undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs in Arts, Fine Arts, Dance, Drama, Music, Education, Journalism, and so on. Some of the recognized courses include Masters in Bengali, English, History, Philosophy and other specific courses like Rabindra Sangeet, Bharatnatyam etc. The admission process for the 2024 batch will commence in May 2023. It is also noteworthy that candidates can apply either online or offline. The Common Entrance Test will be held in the month of July after that Merit List and Counseling for provisional admission.
The Directorate has made linkages with some of the best organizations and firms in the industry with a view to offer placement to deserving students. Some of the regular recruiters are ICICI Bank, Bandhan Bank, Ola Cabs, Byjus etc Many students have been placed with average annual CTC ranging from 2.4 LPA to 5.2 LPA. The maximum salary that was offered was up to 9 LPA.
