Himachal Pradesh Technical University better known as HPTU is a state level technical university situated in Hamirpur Himachal Pradesh. HPTU was established in the year 2010 under the ambit of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, and the commission is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This university got accreditation from NAAC in 2016 with B++ grade. NIRF rankings for the year 2023 have provided HPTU with the rank of 151 out of all the universities across India. As a university, the technical institution aspires to deliver technical education and undertake research in spearhead disciplines of science, engineering, technology, management, pharmacy, architecture and design.
HPTU is affiliated to various colleges and offers different UG, PG and Ph.D programs in engineering, computer application, management, architecture, pharmacy, design etc The admission procedure is generally starts from the month of May every year. The entrance exams taken are as HPCET for B. Tech programme, HP PAT for B. Pharmacy and lateral entry admission. As for the examination of the 2024 admissions, these will most likely be taking place in June 2023. It is highly competitive as the students are admitted based on their performance in the qualifying exams and or entrance exams. End semester examinations are conducted in November/ December and the results are announced in January… Final placements for final year students take place from January to April.
Some of the companies that have come to source for employees in HPTU are Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HPCL, IBM, Accenture among others. The Placement Cell organizes campus placement for students from different disciplines and secures more than 300 placements every year in reputed companies, start-ups, and PSUs. Placement stats show that the average salary offered to BTech CSE students stands at 600K while the best offers go up to 1.8 million. Placement percentages of the students of different sessions are as follow: Placement percentages for 2021 and 2022 sessions are 85% and 87% respectively which shows that the university is providing very good standard and industry-oriented curriculum. Himachal Pradesh Technical University have been quite dynamic in the recruitment year of 2021-22. At least of the students got placed across the reputed organizations such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, Accenture and Tech Mahindra with high percentage of more than 75% of eligible students. The maximum salary revealed was of Rs 18, 000 per annum by AMEX while the median salary offered was Rs 62000 per annum. A few of the major industries that offered maximum number of students include Information technology, software company, manufacturing, banking and financial institutions.
