IIT Ropar is the one of the more recent IITs in the country, having been founded in 2008 by the Government of India. The Institute is an Institute of National Importance as defined by The Institutes of Technology Act of 1961. IIT Ropar is accredited with ‘A’ grade by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). According to the recently released NIRF India Rankings 2023, IIT Ropar has been listed at 37 among engineering institutions.
The institute is a premier learning institution that has undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs offered in many departments for instance, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics Maths and Humanities departments. The major streams available in the graduate programs are engineering, sciences and few interdisciplinary areas. The undergraduate course is known as BTech, for which the admission is conducted through the JEE Advanced examination while the postgraduate course is MTech for which the admission is conducted through the GATE examination. The candidates are admitted for PhD program depending on their academic achievements and results in the tests / interviews.

IIT Ropar Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. The candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination or any equivalent examination with at least 75% marks in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for general category candidates and 65% for the SC/ST candidates.
2. As a matter of fact, candidate should be among the first twenty percentile of candidates for the class 12 board examinations for general category seats.
3. The candidate should not be supposing to the year 1994 or early 1995, hence the birth date should be October 1, 1995, or any date thereafter. Age relaxation is 05 years for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.
4. The candidate must have passed JEE Advanced examination with the necessary subject groups and ranks to secure for various categories and quotas.
5. For the students with foreign qualifications, the students need to obtain equivalence certificates from Association of Indian Universities to ensure that the content of the 10+2 level courses recognized is acceptable.
6. Further lucrative conditions which include having valid score cards of JEE Mains and JEE Advanced are also imperative and also having qualifying standards in the entrance tests as per category.
IIT Ropar Placements 2024
Indeed, during the recruitment season for the batch of 2024, IIT Ropar stand tall with more than 80% of student participation that was placed in various reputed organizations. Microsoft was the largest recruiter of students, which offered the students up to Rs 1.20 crore per annum. Some of the other top employers of the year where the recruiters were also the topmost technology companies were Google, Amazon, Samsung R&D Institute, Qualcomm, Goldman Sachs, and American Express to mention but a few. This year, more than 150 companies have acted as recruiters for campus placements. The maximum salary is offered at Rs 1.30 crore per annum posted by a global investment bank and the mean salary rose to Rs 24.15 lakh per annum which is 15% above the earlier year.
