Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering is the provided BTech programmes by IIT Ropar. For these engineering courses, the criteria that a candidate has to meet include passing class 12 with 75% marks in PCM, though 65% passing is acceptable for SC/ST candidates. For admission to the BTech programmes, IIT Ropar accepts students through the national level tests such as JEE Advanced, JEE Main. It also embarked on the provision of postgraduate degrees such as the MTech, MSc and PhD in area such as Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.
IIT Ropar provides admission to the bachelors level as well as the masters level in engineering, sciences, humanities and social sciences. Some of the key functional streams are Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, English and more. It has national testing mechanism which determines shortlist through counselling before the final seat allocation. Admission generally starts in the end of March for JEE Main exam, and continues up to June-July prior to new session starting in the middle of July at the IIT Ropar campus in Rupnagar, Punjab.
Process for filling up of Admission Form online Read the instructions carefully before filling up the form:
1. Identity Cards/Photo IDs (Aadhaar card, PAN card, Driving License, Passport) – These picture identities demonstrate your distinctiveness and affirm your qualification.
2. Passport size photographs - As many as needed - This is needed for identification purposes for the enrolment form, the aptitude test, and other forms.
3. 12 Marks statement & Passing certificate – As the basic requirement for appointment is 12th standard pass with physics, chemistry and maths the mark statement and the passing certificate of the same is mandatory.
4. Degree Certificate & Marksheets (for Post Graduation applicants) All semester wise marksheets for claiming the eligibility and qualifying degree certificate is mandatory for post Graduation applicants.
5. Caste Certificate (if and only if applicable) – Those candidates who belong to the categories of SC/ST/OBC need to produce caste certificate in order to be able to claim the relevant reservation percentages.
6. JEE Main Scorecard- Each UG applicant must attach this document to affirm eligibility through the national competitive entrance examination in engineering.
1. Entrance exams: JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE or IIT Ropar entrance exam in which they offer Masters in Computer Science & Engineering.
2. Submit applications: Online and the links are provided on IIT Ropar website at admissions.iitrpr.ac.in for UG and PG admissions.
3. Shortlist merit: Depends on the candidates performance in the entrance examination and according to the norms prescribed by IIT Ropar.
4. Document verification: The institute gets a list of academic eligibility, all the original documents are checked.
5. Offer seats: Through the counseling rounds, students can either accept or reject offers made by an institute until all the seats are taken.
6. Admit enrolled: Finally, to affirm their attendance, the selected candidates follow various procedures of the admission process through the payment of fees.
1. To join an IIT, one needs to clear the JEE Advanced exam with a good rank to be considered for joining an IIT.
2. Aspirants submit an online form given in the JOSSA official website to mention preferences as branches of engineering and IIT’s.
3. The seats are filled through multiple counselling sessions where the students get to choose their college based on JEE rank, choices and availability of the seats.
4. Applicants who have been allotted the seats must upload documents and pay the seat acceptance fee online before the stipulated time.
5. Once the seat is allotted to the candidate, the admitted candidate will have to physically join the allotted IIT campus.
6. In case all documents are verified and the fee is paid, candidates are provided with the final list that offers admission confirmation in the respective B.Tech program at IIT Ropar.
1. Make sure the criteria for enrollment such as the educational standard and the examinations that are required for joining the college/university.
2. In terms of the application, it should be online or offline before the application deadline and submit all the documents needed.
3. Sit for national level or, IIT Ropar own entrance exam depending on the stream of M.Sc as offered by the university.
4. In case of selection for admission, be ready to attend counseling sessions and personal interviews to be arranged by IIT Ropar.
5. After that, go through other mandatory requirements for admission and make payment for the fees, and any other documents that may be required.
6. Request the final enrollment confirmation from IIT Ropar to enroll in the two-year full time MSc program in the academic calendar timetable.
