IIIT Kalyani is a National Institute being established by the Ministry of Human Resource development, Government of India. This has, in turn, been approved by the UGC and recognized by the AICTE. The IIIT Kalyani was accredited by the NAAC and was awarded the Grade A in the year 2020. The NIRF rankings for the year 2023 has ranked IIIT Kalyani at 81 out of all the institutes offering higher education in India.
The institute imparts efficient education in information technology and other related disciplines. IIIT Kalyani offers various programs which includes the degree of BTech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. It also provides Master of Technology and Doctor of Philosophy in areas of specialization such as Computational Biology, Human Computer Interaction and Data Engineering. Some of the courses require passing National level examination such as JEE Main or GATE for admission.

1. They are 10+2 exam passed with minimum 60% marks in PCM subjects, with excellent interpersonal skills. Maths is compulsory in class 10+2.
2. Passed in the JEE Main examination or any other entrance test at national or state level, recognized by IIIT Kalyani for the admission in BTech program.
3. For MTech – Candidates having valid GATE score or BTech/BE degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
4. For PhD – GATE score or ME/MTech degree in the concerned discipline with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
5. No age limit. Concessions of marks to the candidates belonging to the reserved category as per Government rules and regulation.
6. Admission for candidates who are waiting for their final examination result can also apply provided they fulfill the above conditions.
The placements of the IIIT Kalyani has been successful for the students passed out in the BTech and Mtech. The college has been successful in maintaining a placement record of over 90% for the eligible students in 2024 across various companies. Some of the employers who recruited included; Microsoft, Amazon, Siemens, Intel international business machines IBM, Wipro and others. In the package offered in placements, the highest recorded was Rs 27,000 per month by Microsoft company. The placement for the students who completed their BTech was quite impressive with the average salary package going over Rs 8 lakh per annum.
