IIT Nagpur has chartered out undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering and science in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Design and Energy Systems. The admission requirements change from one department to the other and program to program - for the BTech programs, the candidates are required to pass the 10+2 exams in the stream of science with 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics (65% for the SC/ST category) along with clearing the JEE Advanced. While mentioning the eligibility criteria for MTech programs, it is writing that they must possess BTech/BE degree along with a valid GATE score. The PhD programs admit students with a master’s degree, with the added requirement to pass the entrance exam and interview set by the concerned department.
IIT Nagpur offers online as well as offline admission to its students however students need to complete their registration online. For online application, candidates have to follow the steps that involve opening IIT Nagpur official website iitnagpur.ac.in and navigate to the ‘Admissions’ section. They have to create their login ID and have to register their details in the admission form by filling necessary information and also by scanning their documents. The application fees can be paid online through credit or debit card or Net banking or through UPI.

The IIT Nagpur has a diverse portfolio of postgraduate programmes in various fields of engineering science, design humanities and social sciences. Different departments seem to have different requirements as to who is eligible to take a polygraph test. For instance, in order to get admitted to the M.Tech in Civil Engineering, one has to have the B.Tech/B.E. minimum 60% aggregate marks in B.E or B. Tech in Civil Engineering for General Candidates whereas for SC/ST minimum 55% aggregate marks is required. GATE qualification is mandatory. One can find that certain courses like M.Des in Industrial Design and M.Sc in Physics and Chemistry accept students from relevant fields and also include qualifying examinations like the CEED and the CSIR-NET respectively. Every IIT has a Common Entrance Exam for M.Tech admission this has been the case with the IIT Delhi also. Others being considered are GATE, CEED, CSIR-NET, JAM, CAT.
