IGNOU is a national open university in India providing open distance learning (ODL). It is an open university which was established in 1985, with the aim of providing equal opportunities of education to the students of the India and abroad, through the twenty one schools of studies across the 67 regional centres, 3000 learner support centres and 29 overseas partner institutions in the India and abroad serving about 3 million students and learners. One of the leading institutes of India, IGNOU – IGNOU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the institute currently offers over 200 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programmes comprising over 3,000 courses across various disciplines. University was accredited as Grade – A by NAAC and ranked 34th in India in the Universities category in NIRF Ranking 2023.
IGNOU provides programs in almost all disciplines from science to social science, arts to fine art and journalism and to library science and computer applications. Based on this we can expect the dates of the examination for programmes like B.Ed. B.SC. Nursing, Ph.D., BAVA, and others in February 2024 and the application process for IGNOU will come to an end in May 2024. A human person is enrolled in cycles twice a year; in January and July . The university has adopted flexible and open pedagogy and the evaluation methods are assignments and examinations together with prescriptive exams for a few programmes. These include study materials that are in print or e-versions through the study centres.
The placement cell for IGNOU students is also quite active and there are a lot of jobs opportunities for IGNOU students in diverse fields. In 2022, more than 520 top recruiters from diverse fields participated in campus placements/recruitment at different regional centers. Companies that majorly recruited during the day included the following companies: ICICI Bank, wipro, HCL Technologies, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Concentrix and Airtel among others who offered profiles such as IT/software, banking consultancy, telecom and others. Highest package offered in 2022 placements was Rs 9.50000 whereas average package was Rs 2.80000 per annum as per 2022 placements. More that 9 400 students got jobs through the placements.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) provides 200+ certificate , diploma, degree and doctoral programs across subjects like arts, social sciences, education, science, technology, law , journalism and library science to mention a few. 3.8.3.1.1 Statistics. IGNOU offers open and distance learning programs to more than 4 million learners in India and abroad at comparatively low fees.
In addition, unlike many universities, there is no need to physically attend classes in IGNOU Distance Learning Courses. The study materials are released in such forms as print, broadcast and online source. Students have access to learning videos and other multimedia learning materials, they can access forums and can be in touch with academic counselors. Assignments are: project work and term end examination.
