Rabindra Bharati University is a University located in Kolkata, India known locally as RBU which was started in the year 1962. RBU is UGC approved, it is a recognized by the AIU and has NAAC grade ‘A’. RBU secured a ranking between 101-150 in the NIRF 2023 rankings in the university category. RBU provides degrees in all fields of arts, science, social sciences and many other specialties.

Some of the faculties available includes arts, business and communication, creative arts, education, languages, music, performing arts, social sciences and more with courses like visual arts, dance, drama, music, performing arts, literature, languages, education, economics, political science, history, social work, statistics, computer science, physics. This university has over 60 courses for the students to choose from. The admission process is online, where the candidate has to complete the RBU selection test depending on the course. The academic year is of semesters and it is possible to enroll to the program in either Spring, Fall or Winter seasons.

Rabindra Bharati University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. For applying in undergraduate programs, a candidate is required to clear the 10+2 examinations securing a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized board. 

2. To apply for postgraduate programs, the candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the related subject with a minimum of forty five percent marks.

3. For the admission in MPhil and PhD programmes, the students should have minimum 55% marks in the master’s level or in the subject concerned.

4. For some programs, students also have to meet certain pre-entry exams set and administered by the university.

5. The relaxation in the minimum eligibility marks criteria depends on the reserved category of the students up to 5% of them.

6. Furthermore, in any college, students require to fulfill other requirements such as age limit, domicile requirements.

Rabindra Bharati University and the placement cell of the university is quite active but not as much as some other universities in west Bengal. Some of the major companies that conduct campus selection programs for the students include the Wipro, Infosys systems, Tata consulting, Tech Mahindra. The trend reveals that the maximum remuneration paid in the past few years has been up to Rs. 8 lakhs per annum. It is approximately Rs. 2500 to Rs.4000 hundred per month, which means an average salary package offered is between Rs. 2.5 and 4 lakhs per annum. As of now, the opening of Various campus placements has been successful in providing jobs to nearly 30-40% of the total number of candidates who followed the campus placement drive.
