Sidho Kanho Birsha University (SKBU) is a new state university which was established in the year 2010 and is situated at Purulia of West Bengal. SKBU has been recognized as a Grade B++ universities with Level 4.31 CGPA accreditation by NAAC in 2022, since its inception in 2010. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework, NIRF India Rankings 2023, Sidho Kanho Birsha University was ranked 75 among universities in India.

It has under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate degrees in Sciences, Social sciences, Arts, Commerce, Education, Law and Engineering. Some of the primary offered courses are: BTech, MTech, BSc, MSc, BA, MA, MCom, BEd, LLB, and PhD. Thus, the semester exams are usually held in the intervening weeks of November-December and April-May annually. It begins in May with an admission process and formal academic year begins in August.

Sidho Kanho Birsha University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Candidate must be a pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream (Arts/Science/Commerce) with an overall percentage of 50% marks. 

2. For PG programs candidate must have Bachelor degree in relevant subject with minimum of fifty percent marks from a recognized university.

3. If any student belongs to the reserved category then they will be allowed 5% less percentage than the mentioned eligibility percentage in their qualifying degree examinations.  

4. As far as the age criteria are concerned, there is no upper limit of age for admission to any course except for the programs in which the regulatory body has set upper age limit.

5. It must be noted that foreign candidates must have passed the equivalent of the qualifying degree with the required percentage from a recognized Board/University.

6. There are some more conditions that may be required in the certain programs like – BEd, LLB, MCA, MEd candidates should verify it at the University website only at the time of filling the application.
