The University of Calcutta is a Public state university that is situated at Kolkata West Bengal in India. It was founded in 1857 and it is the first university in South Asia and the university with a system of, multi-disciplinary and secular Western style. The university is also accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It has been assessed and accredited as Grade A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). According to the NIRF rankings of the year 2023, University of Calcutta occupied the 17 th position among all universities in the country.
IIT Kharagpur provides education up to the under graduate, post graduate and research level in the faculties of science, humanities, social science, management, law, commerce and teacher education through 85 plus colleges and 55 plus research institutes. The most sought degrees are BA, BSc, BCom, MA, MSc, MCom, BE/BTech, LLB, MBBS, integrated courses dual degree courses etc. The university has semester examination in march- April and November December respectively. The application and admission process for the academic year you want to join will begin in May-June of the year preceding the academic year you wish to join. The admissions will be based on merit and include the marks scored in the last qualification examination conducted by the university as well as the university entrance test in case it is conducted for the program.
Campus placements are also carried out regularly by the University of Calcutta for the students in every academic session. About 200 organizations in IT/software, banking and finance, consultancy/MNCs, FMCG/CP, pharma and many other sectors and fields visit for campus placements. This is the permanent trend in placement offers, the average salary offered is about ?5-6 lakhs per annum. The major companies which have recruited include TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture, ICICI Bank, HDFC bank, Deloitte, PwC, Nestle, ITC limited etc., The total percentage of the placement offers in our college is up to 85-90% every year. It is also worth saying that there are a lot of students who continue their education after graduation in Calcutta University.
