The Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata has a number of degree courses at both UG and PG level in engineering, management, science and law etc. Some of the programs B.Tech programs provided are Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Mechanical, Civil Engineering. The criterion for admission to B.Tech programs is that the students must have passed their 12th class board examinations with PCM/PCB subjects with minimum 50% marks. Eligibility criteria: WBJEE, JEE Main and MET entrance exams are accepted. BCA and BBA programs accept students who have passed their class 12th examination in any discipline. For MBA and MCA admissions, the minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree relevant to the course of study. The CAT and MAT examinations are the most widely recognized while JEMAT is also acceptable. The integrated law programs that are offered include ba llb and bba llb, students applying must have passed class 12th in any stream and have to clear CLAT examination.

The 2024 admission process is normally in January in every year and takes several weeks to complete. WBJEE, JEE Main, CLAT, CAT, MAT are the sample entrance examination notification which comes out between January and May while the exams are conducted between April and the results are announced by July. From July up to September, counseling rounds are being conducted. The IEM generally admits new batches in the session starting September–October for the specific academic year. - The seats are limited and it is a four year course which is offered after clearing the JEE Advanced conducted by the IITs. The candidate must first clear JEE Mains and then only can attempt the JEE Advanced.
- According to JEE Advanced scores 40% weight is given to the student’s performance in class 12 board exams and 60% weight is given to the rank obtained in JEE Advanced.
- However, there are other conditions with regards to combination of subjects in Class 12. To be specific, students require Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- Some seats of the course are also offered to DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) candidates through their SAT score.
- A few other seats are reserved in each branch through lateral entry for diploma holders according to the obtained diploma percentage.
- There is a provision for weightage for Olympiad winners, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) scholars and sports quota students, also.

8. In case of getting shortlisted, the candidates must attend the counseling session and group discussion /personal interview to be held at IEM Kolkata.

10. Lastly, that completes the admission process after the admission of seat, paying the admission fees.
- It involves scoring in national level management entrance tests such as CAT/MAT/ XAT followed by group discussion & personal interview (GD&PI) round.
- The GD and PI rounds are conducted with the successful candidates who were selected based on the entrance exam results. One has to take the final composite score that takes into account the entrance test score, academic performance, group discussion/interview performance and finally any work experience of relevance.
- For CAT examination to be able to get interview from top B-schools which include IEM Kolkata, an overall percentile of over 90 is expected. For other exams like XAT and MAT which are not conducted by XLRI, one has to secure an equivalent percentile based on the scoring system of the respective exam.
- While going through the GD/PI process the panel assesses the candidates in regards to their analytical skills, leadership skills, communication skills, personality and awareness level. A well-defined measure of the candidate’s performance especially in his or her past academic performance as well as quality of work experience does count.
