Shri Shikshayatan College is an accredited higher learning institution that is based in Kolkata in the state of West Bengal. It was founded in the year 1960 and has been receiving accreditation from the University of Calcutta and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with ‘B+’ grade. It is also hoped that the college will rank in the NIRF rankings 2023.
The college provides education from bachelor’s to master’s degree in various streams under different courses. The main courses it gives are BA/BSc/BCom in English ,Bengali, History, Political Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Commerce. The admission to these programs depends on the marks obtained in 10+2 examinations and admission test/ interview conducted by the college for the interested students. Shri Shikshayatan College Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. The applicant should have completed 10 plus 2 or equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks for general categories and 45% for SC/ST/OBC categories.
2. Professionally qualified in national or state level entrance exams such as NEET with minimum cut-off percentile that year. Meet category-wise qualifying marks.
3. Minimum years of age 17 years as on December 31 of the year of admission. It should not be more than 25 years for general category but as per the norms allowed it can be relaxed for the reserved categories.
4. Official candidate of the state the college is situated in. Few seats are dedicated to the state quota as well.
5. Meet physical fitness requirements as provided in entrance examination information pamphlet. No physical disabilities allowed.

Shri Shikshayatan College has a functional placement cell and this is mainly responsible for the internships and the final placements of the students. Many industries like software, finance, banking, BPOs and ITES industries are regular recruiters for campus placements and some of the leading recruiters are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture. The maximum salary offered by American Express during the placement drive was Rs. 18 lakhs per annum in the 2024 batches. Their average salary package offered to the candidates was Rs. 4.2 lakh per annum. Through campus placement, the T&P cell provided job offers to a total of 70% students.
