Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) is a technical university in the state of Odisha, India and it is situated in Rourkela. Founded in 2002 with an Ordinance, BPUT is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and affirmed by the Government of Odisha. It was found NAAC and got grade ‘A’ in the year 2016. As per the NIRF rankings 2023, which were declared recently, BPUT has been placed in the band of institutes having ranking between 101-150 in the country for engineering colleges.
The university provides education in the field of engineering, technology, science, management, etc. at Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate level.Some of the popular courses are B.Tech., M.Tech., MCA, MBA, PhD etc. The admission to all the courses is through OJEE, JEE MAIN, GATE etc. The admission process generally starts in the month of April every year and comes after the examination. For the session 2024, all important examination schedule or dates, admission procedure details will be updated by December, 2023 on the college website.
The university has a very good track record for placing its students in jobs with leading organizations. The placement performance of the institution in the 2021-22 placement drive was excellent as the number of students placed was 86.23% through 125 organisations. The students placed in jobs received the average salary of Rs 6.2 lakhs per annum, which ranges up to Rs 29.33 lakhs per annum. The companies that offer campus placements to the students many a times include Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, Tata Steel, L&T, Tech Mahindra, HPCL, Vedanta, etc.The university has a Training & Placement Cell that helps students to prepare for interviews by conducting grooming session, mock interviews, etc. To this end, BPUT has numerous collaborations with industries and academic institutions with the goal of establishing full 100% placements for the successive graduating classes.

Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) is one of the largest universities in Odisha that invites more than 500 companies for campus placement every year. Some of the well-known organizations hiring candidates include Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, and Accenture among others. In the session 2021, TCS came first in campus placement offering the highest number of joining letters at BPUT with the average package of Rs 3.36 lakhs per annum. The maximum salary packages was offered by Cohesity, a software firm that offered Rs 27 lakhs per annum. A total of over 3000 students have been offered placement in the year 2021 with an average package ranging between Rs 3 – 4 lakhs per annum. The placement scenario has remained above 80% since the establishment of BPUT where the students got placed in leading technology companies and core engineering enterprises.
