DIAT, is an autonomous institution coming under the Department of Defence Research & Development, Ministry of Defence. It was founded in the year 1952 and is one of the oldest deemed university of India specializing in defence related engineering and technological studies. DIAT has been accredited by NAAC as ‘A+’ grade institutions and is recognized by the AICTE. According to NIRF rankings in 2023, it was placed in the range between 101-150 institutions in the field of universities of India.
DIAT provides diverse postgraduate and doctoral courses in various disciplines like Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, Armament Systems and Technology, Combat & Weapon Systems and Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering etc. For admission to 2024, the admission process will be starting from January 2024. The admissions to the ME/MTech programmes at DIAT are through GATE scores. They have their own written test and interview for MSc students and it is held in the month of May/June 2024. It must be noted that DIAT has a very good placement record and numbers of reputed defence PSUs and private corporate companies visit the campus to offer the students placement. More than 80% of the student turnout was placed through the campus placements in the placement session 2022-23. Some of the major recruiters which hire directly are DRDO, HAL, BEL, BHEL, L&T, Tata Power, Wipro, Infosys, TCS etc. The maximum salary scale crossing the Rs 35 lakhs per annum mark. Defence Institute of Advanced Technology Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For admission in any of the BTech programs one must pass 10+2 or equivalent examination in PCM stream besides minimum 60% in PCM and minimum 60% marks in aggregate. They should also clear JEE Main exam In addition.
2. MTech courses require their BTech/BE qualification in an appropriate branch of engineering such as Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical etc., with a minimum 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA. The basic eligibility for admission to MTech is GATE qualification and valid GATE score.
3. Yes, PhD programs require ME/MTech degree in a relevant engineering discipline with minimum 60% marks or equivalent. Academic qualification is necessary along with the qualifying GATE examination, sound academic performance and research aptitude.
4. To pursue MSc programs, it is essential to have a BSc degree in Physics Math/Chemistry with minimum 60% aggregate marks. Applicants also need to clear the JAM exam for MSc admission also.
5. MBA program at any of these institutes demands minimum of 60% marks in bachelor’s degree in any field along with the valid CAT/MAT score. Work experience is preferred.
6. Other PG diploma programs need a Bachelor’s degree in the related discipline depending on the program with a minimum of sixty percent of the marks.
