The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) is a reputed deemed university situated at Pune, exclusively for imparting education in defence technology. It provides postgraduate programs in all the departments like Aeronautical Engineering Electronics Engineering Computer Science Engineering and several other departments. These are Aeronautical and Electronics Engineering for which an applicant must possess BE/BTech from a recognized University along with a valid GATE Score. For Computer Science, candidates must possess a BTech/BE/Msc degree in Computer Science/IT/Electronics/Telecom disciplines with valid GATE scores. DIAT has also provides admission based on the scores obtained in CAT/CMAT for the management courses offered in the university. Accepted tests are GATE, CAT, and CMAT, but the weightage given to them is not the same.
DIAT Pune currently has over 12 postgraduate courses in engineering, technology, and management with departments in Aeronautical, Armament, Electronics, Computing, Systems, Naval architecture and others. Some of the key courses taught include MTech in Aero Engg, Armament Tech, Naval Architecture, Communication Engg among others coupled with MBA. Several tests like GATE, CAT are conducted for admission and is followed by registration, filling up the choices, allotment of the seats and finally the admission. For MBA and other non-GATE courses, candidates who are CAT/CMAT qualified can apply from Dec-Jan every year, can take counseling from April-May. For the other categories of candidates, counselling registration is done in May each year after the GATE results have been released. Last date for admission is in the month of July for MTech programmes. Details of the entrance test will appear on the official website with dates for 2024 admission. The entire admission process occurs through the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Des (CCMT) for DIAT each year.
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) Pune has established various postgraduate and doctoral programs in the engineering and technology stream. The steps taken to get admitted into DIAT Pune can be done both online as well as through the offline method.
For online applications, candidates need to visit the official website at www.diatonline.co.in there click on the ‘Admissions’ which is given on the top of the page. They need to register, sign up on the website, complete the application form, upload scanned copies of documents, and pay the application fees. The Offline application process entails downloading the form from the website filled and completed application together with all necessary documents and application fee sent to DIAT either through post or physically.
There is provision to admit students in the DIAT through the GATE score for M.Tech degree courses and the marks in the qualifying examination or performance for the M.Sc degree. Programs. It is mandatory that candidates who make it to the shortlist are required to attend an interview which is held in the DIAT Pune campus. The candidates who are shortlisted for admission will be communicated to and they will be given the admission details where they can accept their admission either online or offline within the declared dates before the start of a specific batch of the program.

- Students are admitted through gate scores and passing a certain grade from the previous year. It also states that to apply in an organization, one has to have a valid GATE score.
- DIAT also conducts a written test and / or interview round with the students for the candidates who are shortlisted for admission.
- The final stage in short listing involves the applicants GATE score, academic performance, performance in tests/interviews and DIAT’s other requirements.
- It should be noted that the total intake of students allowed for MTech program at DIAT may differ from one specialization to the other.

- M.Tech admissions are as per the merit and qualified GATE scores only. As per the above mentioned selection criteria, only those candidates having a valid GATE score above the cut-off will be allowed to apply.
- Candidates who pass the above stages are required to go through an Interview process that is conducted by DIAT. The interview is an important component of the assessment, and its scores amount to 15% of the total merit.
- Candidates are finally selected on the basis of marks obtained in GATE Exam + marks obtained in the qualifying degree + interview. To ensure credit-score type compositing, a certain weightage is assigned to each component to arrive at the composite score.
- There are provisions for reservation for candidates as per the GOI norms for the SC/ST/OBC candidates as the case may be.
- Apart from GATE score there is certain norm that the candidate has to fulfill in terms of marks obtained in the B.Tech/BE or equivalent examination. These criteria may not be uniform depending on the chosen specialization within the nursing profession.
- There are also requirements of work experience in some instances such as – for part time M.Tech admission, the applicants should have at least 2 years work experience.

2. Choose the M.Tech stream, you wish to pursue such as Aerospace, Mechanical Stream, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science etc.
3. I take an online admission once it is opened and generate my user ID and password credentials.
4. Complete the online application form with the best accuracy and attach the necessary documents in electronic form. This include – mark sheets of the exams taken, GATE score card etc.
5. For the general category, you should remit a small fee of around Rs.600 for the application online.
6. Review and complete the form and record the registration particulars once filed.
7. If selected, sit for an interview at the Pune center that is conducted by DIAT at a date and time that is provided to the candidate.
8. If an applicant is offered a spot at the institution, s/he has to sign an acceptance of the offer and then send necessary documents and tuition fees. Selection list is usually released at the end of June or early July according to the From concept.
