Presidency University Kolkata is a well-rounded university that provides programs for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in the field of science, arts, commerce, engineering, law, and many more. For the science with specialized courses like B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Chemistry B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Statistics, B.Sc. Geology, and B.Sc. Computer Science, students are supposed to have passed their Higher Secondary examinations in science stream with not less than 60% of total marks. Original marksheets attested by the head of the institution are acceptable along with the recognition of exam such as WBCHSE, ISC or CBSE. For general BA, for subjects like Economics, English, History, Political Science, Sociology, and so on, the candidate must have scored 55% in the Higher Secondary examination. The Bachelor of Commerce program is open for students from any stream provided he or she would have secured 60% in the HS exams. The integrated 5-year programme of BA LLB gives admissions through CLAT UG for the candidates passing the Higher Secondary with 50% marks only.
Some of the popular courses include BTech in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science Engineering for which it is mandatory to present JEE Main score, MSc in subjects offered in Physics and Chemistry for which candidate need to present GATE score, MA in English, Economics, History based on the university’s entrance exam score. The university also provides post graduate diplomas that last for 2 years for specific degree programs. Important 2024 admission exam dates are: JEE Main Jan &April, GATE Feb, CLAT May, University entrance tests May & June. There are two major intakes – for PG programs the applications forms are available from March and for UG programs from May every year on the website.
