VSSUT Burla is one of the leading public technical and research university situated in Burla, Odisha, which was established in the year 1996. It provides degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the several fields of engineering and technology. The admission requirements for VSSUT B.Tech programmes in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Civil Engineering State level entrance examination for admission into degree courses or any other national level examination with at least 50% marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. These are JEE Main, OJEE and Vice Chancellor’s cup which is conducted by VSSUT.

Documents Required for Admission in VSSUT Burla for Different Courses:
1. JEE Main Rank: Joining will be strictly on merit and as per the All India overall rank and category rank of the candidate in the JEE Main examination.
2. Class 12th Marks: A candidate must have completed 10+2 from a recognised board and should have scored more than 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) and the candidate should have Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects.
3. Entrance Test: For admission to the B.Tech. Programs, candidates are selected on the basis of their JEE Main ranks and they have to write an entrance examination conducted by the VSSUT. Their performance in this test will be taken into account/evaluation.
4. Academic Marks: As for the preparation of the merit list, 40% weightage will be given to the score of the candidates in JEE Main while 30% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in Class 12th and 30% weightage will be for marks obtained in VSSUT entrance test.
5. Seat Availability: Admission will be given according to merit list prepared as per above criteria on the accessibility of the seats in the discipline and category.

1. Those candidates who have appeared qualifying GATE examination will be preferred over those who do not possess the qualification.
2. For other candidates, the selection will be based on the marks obtained by the candidates as per the GATE norms along with marks secured in the qualifying bachelor’s degree. The GATE score will be used with 75% weightage and bachelor’s degree marks with 25% weightage.
3. In case the candidate has not appeared for GATE, then she/he will be shortlisted based on the marks obtained in the final qualifying bachelor’s degree.
4. Unlike in the past where there was only one M.Sc merit list for the successful candidates, there will now be two lists; one for those who had GATE qualification and the other for those without GATE qualification.
5. In each of the merit lists, the top candidates would be considered for the seat offer before moving to the next candidate until all the seats are occupied.
6. If the two candidates have secured equal marks, then the matter will be decided on the basis of percentage marks obtained by the candidates in their respective Higher Secondary/12th examination or Secondary/10th examination as the case may be till the tie is resolved.
