Biotechnology is one of the popular stream under Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) that deals with the interface between biology and technology to solve problems in agriculture, medicine, environment, industries and other fields. Generally it takes three years in which it is divided into six semesters. The subjects taught include microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, aside from specialized subjects such as genetic engineering, plant biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology, and more, industrial projects and laboratory trainings are also inculcated by the school.
The following are some of the entrance exams that applicants need to produce in order to be admitted into B.Sc Biotechnology in government/private colleges are – national examinations: NEET, CUCET, JEE Main, as well as state or university level examinations. Most of the colleges also provide direct admission on the merit of the students qualified in PCB in 10+2.
