National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai is one of the premier institutions that cater the need of providing teacher training programs in technical and engineering streams. NITTTR Chennai has faculties in engineering, sciences, humanities & management offering programs like M.Tech., M.Phil. & Ph.D. Programmes, the criteria for admission to the different departments may also differ however for engineering disciplines a B.E/B.Minimum 55% in the graduation or M.Sc. degree in the relevant specialization to get enrolled in M.Tech.
Recognized qualifying test are GATE, CEED and UGC/CSIR-NET. For Sciences, students need to have Basic Science/ Mathematics (B.Sc/ M.).Sc in particular specialization from a recognized university with at least 55% marks. For admission to management and humanities disciplines, the students must have masters degree in the respective discipline with a minimum of 55% marks. UGC-NET is compulsory and any other state or national level eligibility examinations are also allowed.

| Entrance Exam | Qualification through one of the following: |
| - Entrance Test conducted by NITTTR Chennai. The test typically covers research methodology (50%) and subject-specific content (50%). | |
