The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) is an engineering college, which is fully autonomous and is situated in Mysore, Karnataka. NIE was set up in the year 1946 and is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India and is a self financing institution. Our college is accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC and according to NIRF Ranking 2023 the college is ranked 85 among Engineering colleges. The institute is spread across 6 branches of engineering Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Research programs in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science & Information Science streams.
NIE is offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in all disciplines of engineering, MCA and MBA. Latter for B.E course the students need to attend COMEDK or KCET exams and then attend the counseling session. The admissions to M.Tech are offered based on the students performance in the PGCET & GATE entrance examination. For MBA and MCA, they have to write the KMAT/ CMAT/ PGCET examinations where as for M.Tech, they have to take the GATE examinations. It usually begins in December or as the authorities put it, during the early months of the academic year. For the COMEDK exam the date for the 2024 batch is May 14, for KCET exam is between April 18 to 20 and for PGCET exam for PG courses will be conducted on June 10th 2024.

1. Applicants must have completed their 10+2/intermediate examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects with minimum 45% (40% SC/ST/OBC) marks in aggregate.
2. The basic eligibility criteria for these programs are that the student must have scored the minimum requisite marks in JEE Mains or COMEDK entrance examinations for the BTech programs. Cut off lists will also be prepared taking into consideration the entrance exam marks.
3. For other diploma programs excluding engineering the percentage of Marks obtained in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination is considered for admissions.
4. NRI/PIO candidates should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with above said subjects with minimum marks percentage. The seats in all the NRI’s are provided through the DASA scheme.
5. For diploma holders, the university provides a lateral entry to BTech programs, whereby they join the second year of the program. As per their merit, they are given admission based on the scores they obtain in LEEP or COMEDK PGET.
6. Candidates seeking admission into MTech programs must possess a BE/BTech or equivalent in the relevant specialization with the minimum aggregate score mentioned for the specific programs.
National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysore, India is a college that specializes in providing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in a number of fields of engineering. NIE was set up in 1946 to cater to the need of an engineering college in the erstwhile Travancore-Cochin state with a current student strength of more than 7500.
NIE provides an academic program of 4 year Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in students in faculties such as Computer Science & Information Science, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Civil Electronics and Telecommunication and Chemical engineering among others. The university only accepts students who meet the cut off mark set by the consortium of medical and engineering colleges of the day known as COMEDK entrance exam. NIE also provides 2-year Master of Technology (MTech) education in such fields as Machine Design, VLSI Design, Computer Science, and Construction Technology Management. Admission is done through PGCET entrance test conducted for the students of Karnataka state only.
