The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) providing undergraduate engineering education in various emerging fields is located in Mysore. The computer science department provides a course called BTech in Computer Science and more than just entrance exams, they accept the scores from the exams such as KCET, COMEDK as well as JEE Main. The eligibility is passing 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics eligibility being a key factor in the decision-making process. Under the department of mechanical engineering it provides the course BTech in Mechanical Engineering where the admission is on the basis of KCET, JEE main scores and the eligibility of 12th grade passing with Physics, chemistry and mathematics. The civil engineering program is available as a BTech which also accepts KCET, JEE Main scores and the 12th grade qualification requirements as for mechanical engineering. The course specializing in Electrical and Electronics Engineering has the BTech degree, which takes students on the basis of KCET and JEE Main ranks, the basic qualification being 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.  

The disciplines of engineering that are available at NIE Mysore include Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Electrical and electronics Engineering. Important exams dates for admission are: Kcet is conducted from 16th of June to 18th of June 2024 and Comedk is being conducted between 10th to 13rd of May 2024. JEE Main will be conducted on 21 February 2024 to 26 February 2024. The process of admission in the current system entails passing of acceptance tests, counselling in accordance to the state laws, assessment of documents, payment of fees and admission acceptance. While the process is carried out by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for state level entrance tests, JEE Main admits are centrally managed. Likewise, seat allotment takes place according to the candidate’s score and their preference for institutes that are part of the CAT. They are category wise and provisional which means that students are allowed to join the respective colleges based on the documents submitted after the allotment of seats.

NIE Mysore Application Process 2024

The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysore has given admission notification for the B.E/B.Tech, M.E/M.Tech and MCA courses for the year 2011-12 at its campus which will be available both online and offline. The admission process of NIE Mysore is online, therefore, a student who wishes to apply for admission must visit the NIE Mysore website at www.nie.ac.in. To submit the application online, one has to get registered, to complete application form, upload documents required and to pay the fees for the application form also online. The application form is available in an offline mode as well as can be downloaded from the official website. True copies of the completed application form along with the DD, photocopies of the mark sheets of the qualifying examination, and passport size photographs should be sent to the following address on or before the stipulated date: ‘The Registrar, NIE, Manandavadi Road, Mysore – 570008’. Admissions are offered based on the merit in K.C.E.T / COMEDK/ P.G.C.E.T or N.I.E. entrance exam. Candidates who had been provisionally shortlisted would be called for counseling and for the process leading to the final allocation of seats. Process for filling up of Admission Form online Read the instructions carefully before filling up the form:

  • Enter all the required details
  • Fill up the application form completely & submit it.
  • Candidates will be allotted a user ID & password from the confirmation page.
  • The same User ID & Password will be sent to the candidate's registered Email ID for future reference.
  • Upload passport size photograph (less than 1 MB) and all the required documents.
  • Pay Online & Download Receipt.

NIE Mysore M.Tech Selection Criteria

- It is to mention that admission to the M.Tech program of NIE Mysore is strictly through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores only. A valid GATE score is mandatory for any eligibility for the position.

- While the admission to M.Tech. program of NIE Mysore is offered to the GATE qualified candidates, if the seats are still available, the admission may be open to other candidates according to their rank in the entrance test and interview conducted by NIE Mysore.

- In case of the candidate who has qualified in GATE, the admission is given according to the merit taking into account on GATE score, average percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Under Graduate examination and weight age for experience wherever applicable. There is a tendency that GATE scores receive a higher weighting.

- There are also categories of seats for different candidates such as working professionals sponsored by their employer or industries, research scholars sponsored by their guide or head of the institution, faculty members of NIE Mysore, etc., which has a slightly different pattern of admission and selection.

NIE Mysore M.Tech How To Apply?

1. One has to wait for the actual notification regarding M.Tech admission which can be found on the university website or through advertisement. This will have information on the following;; Eligibility, dates to remember, how to apply among other details.

2. Make sure that you do not have any issue regarding the NIE Mysore’s basic minimum requirement for the M.Tech program of your choice. This is most often a B.E/B.Tech degree with the least passing mark that is obligatory for any candidate.

3. Note that most of them should be applied online or offline before the application deadline. Another step will be for the university to offer an application form that should be completed in the appropriate way and then to submit the form with scanned copies of documents.

4. Documents require Are – Degree certificates, mark sheets, GATE score card if applicable, Category/Community certificates if applying in reserved category etc. 

5. Submit the demand drafts and other mandatory fees of the application through online mode or attach the proof of payment.

6. Take any entrance examination, interview or counseling session that the university may desire for the admission procedure.

7. If called, accept the preliminary offer by paying any required admission/tuition fees before the stipulated time.
