The M.Phil is a postgraduate degree that is offered by many universities and institutions all over the world. An M.Phil. degree is a 1-2 years program which can be done after the completion of the master’s degree. The specific purpose of the advanced research program is to prepare the students to conduct research on their own with the help of a chosen faculty member. The students are expected to write a research thesis at the end of the course as a part of the research work done during the course. There are universities which provide M.Phil. program by coursework and thesis.
Entrance into an M.Phil. program depends mostly on the basic requirements that are set by the universities and colleges. Some of the national level entrance tests are CET, UGC-NET, GATE, and some university/institute level tests are JEST, JNUEE, BHU PET. Many institutes/universities take valid and updated GATE/NET scores for admission. Performance on the qualifying master’s degree/written test/interviews is also taken into account at the time of final selection.

1. A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least 55% of the total marks from any recognized university.
