Cardiology Ph.D. is a third cycle academic degree that prepares students for further learning and research in the field of cardiology which deals with the heart and blood vessels. Ph.D. Cardiology takes 3-5 years to complete, including class work, research and preparation of dissertation. Students are also introduced to sophisticated cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology and molecular biology. Accepted entrance exams for Ph.D. Cardiology programs include: Science test score in GRE subject test in Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy or any of the science course that shows good scientific ability. 1. MBBS degree from any university recognized by MCI with not less than 55% marks.
2. MBBS degree from a recognized university followed by 3 years of MD Cardiology with minimum 60% marks. Or they should have completed 3 years DM Cardiology course after MBBS with at least 60% marks.
3. Clear the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC / CSIR or any other test equivalent to NET. Most of the institutes do not require NET for candidates possessing DM degree.
4. Appear entrance exam and take admission in any recognized university/institute for Ph.D. Cardiology program. A few institutes offer direct admission for the DM degree holder.
5. Well defined interview round organized by the Ph.D. selection committee of the institutes.
6. Complete paperwork positively if needed and get the final admission confirmation from the selected Ph.D. program.
