Agartala Government Medical College is a 320-bedded hospital located in the heart of Agartala and serves as a government medical college in Tripura. AGMC is a Registered Society and recognized by MCI and NAAC accredited with B+. It was established in the year 2005. The Centre For Education Growth and Research (CEGR) released the NIRF rankings 2023 for medical colleges in India and AGMC is ranked 65th in the country.
The college provides quality of education in numerous streams of medical science. The undergraduate program offered is MBBS and BDS where 100 and 40 seats are filled annually respectively. Among the postgraduate medical courses are: MD/MS in subjects like General Medicine, Pediatrics, Pulmonary Medicine, Microbiology, etc., and diplomas like – DCP, DMRD, DJOP, DMRD, DOMS, DOMS. The course of admission to the UG and PG programs i.e. selection is through the NEET entrance examination and counseling. The dates for the various exams as well as admissions to this college are announced through the official website of AGMC.
The AGMC graduates have a high placement rate once they graduate from the institution. Some of the companies that take part in campus placement are Apollo Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Wockhardt Hospitals among many others. Each passing-out batch of MBBS graduates of the college gets about 60-70% of their placements with the highest CTC of INR 15 lakhs per annum. It also offers it’s graduates lucrative jobs in top dental chains such as Apollo White Dental, Clove Dental etc with pay ranging from 6 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum. An equally noteworthy aspect is the repeated high ranks and recruiter interest which reflect the excellence of education that one gets in AGMC.
