UGC NET, also known as the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, tests a candidate’s eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor and awards Junior Research Fellowship in Universities and Colleges in India. The UGC NET is the most popular exam through which candidates who are handling subjects such as sciences, social sciences, foreign languages, computer science & applications must appear in order to join their career with teaching as a lecturer or professor.
The dates for the UGC NET 2024 will be out soon, and the notification is likely to be released in March-April 2023. The application process will begin later on and the admit card will be issued fifteen days prior to the test. It is expected that the UGC NET 2024 exam will be held in June 2024. Such documents include- photograph and signature, caste certificate if a candidate belongs to the reserved category and other supporting documents like Aadhar card/ voter ID/ driving license.

1. The candidate must possess a Master’s degree or its equivalent in the specific field from a recognized university. Final year Master’s degree students may also apply for the position.
2. The candidate does not have to specify an upper age limit to join the NET. But the candidates from the reserved category have age concessions as per the government norms.
3. This means that candidates who have a Ph.D. degree are not required to write NET. Junior Research Fellowship holders can apply for Assistant Professor jobs.
4. The candidate belonging to the General category and seeking lectureship must obtain at least 55% of the total marks in Paper 1 and Paper 2 both. As for reserved categories, they have the right to 50% of the number of candidates.
5. Those candidates who are eligible only for eligibility for lectureship can apply for Assistant Professor in the colleges but not in universities.
6. Those who cleared both Paper 1 and 2 with good aggregate percentage, can apply for both Assistant Professor jobs in colleges and universities.

1. Go to the official website www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in and then follow register/login/application link. Sign up by entering personal information.
2. Select user id and password from the options of registered users. Complete the online application form with personal, academic, and contact information.
3. Upload the scanned photo, signature and other documents as per the specified size criteria.
4. You can use your credit/debit card, net banking or UPI to pay the application fee.
5. Always ensure that you go through every detail that you have filled in the form before submission.
6. For future use save the confirmation page and take the print out of the application form after submitting it.
7. Visit the website for admit card download through application number and password when released.
