Asutosh College is an undergraduate college established in the year 2003 under the University of Calcutta and situated in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1916, it has years of experience and tradition, which has now lasted over a hundred years. As per the latest NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) ranking, the college has been given ‘Grade ‘A’ in the year 2016. In NIRF rankings 2023, Asutosh college ranked 37 among colleges in India.
This college provides a variety of undergraduate courses Sciences, Arts and Commerce streams. Some of the most chosen programs are BSc Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, BCom Honours, BA Honours in English, Bengali political science history and many more. The semester exams are normally administered in the month of December and May in a given year. The admission process begins in May-June, and students can apply for various courses online. The criteria used in the selection process involves a merit considered from the class 12th board examinations. The new academic session starts from July.

Asutosh College Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For Bachelors in Arts programs: the applicant must have passed class 12 board examination from a recognized board with possessing at least 50% marks in the aggregate of the examinations. Should have had an opportunity to study subjects that are related with class 12.
2. For Bachelors in Commerce: to be appointed as a candidate, one must have passed the class 12 from any recognized board. Finally, the candidate must have passed 12th standard with Commerce and Accountancy subjects and minimum 55% marks in it.
3. For Bachelors in Science: applicants must have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, subjects in the class 12exam conducted by any recognized board.
4. For Masters programs: As a prerequisite, candidates must have a Bachelors degree in the relevant field from any accredited university with minimum 50% aggregate marks. This may call for specific specialization in order to enhance depth and maximize the ability to share knowledge and insight across the relevant disciplines.
5. For MPhil and PhD programs: The candidates are expected to possess master’s degree in the concerned specialization only from a recognized university preferably with a minimum aggregate of fifty five percent marks. Qualification in entrance test also necessary and there was no reservation for any castes and classes.
