The Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) is one of the first autonomous engineering colleges of Karnataka, India, established in 1979. BIT was set up in 1979 and is a part of Visvesvaraya Technological University, which is located in Belgaum and has been accorded approval by the All India Council for Technical Education. BIT has also been awarded NAAC accreditation with an ‘A’ Grade in the year 2022. It has also been awarded 101-150 positions in the ranking of Engineering institutions in NIRF Rankings 2023. This institute has got its campus spread over 27 acres of area and provides 9 Under Graduate courses and 6 Post Graduate courses in engineering and technology.
The disciplines that are taught at BIT Bangalore for the undergraduate course are Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, Biotechnology Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Industrial Production Engineering. Preliminary dates for PGCET 2024 are yet to be released but are expected to be declared by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) during the month of March 2024. However, BIT allows students to take admissions for the new session of 2024 to the BTech courses through both PGCET and COMEDK scores. The candidates interested can apply through COMEDK centralized counselling or through counselling conducted by KEA. The admission criteria are the rank in PGCET/ COMEDK conducted by the university and marks in the qualifying examination. The counselling rounds are before the final seat allocation in July-August 2024 hence candidates shall be invited.

1. For B Tech programs, applicants should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with PCM and should have scored minimum 60 percent in aggregate. Should have a valid entrance exam score valid in CET/COMEDK/JEE Mains.
2. For MTech programs, a 60% BTech/BE degree in the related discipline of engineering is required by the candidate. The candidates who qualify for GATE examination are privileged to get the admissions.
3. For admission to MCA programme, the candidate must have passed the Bachelor’s degree examination (in any stream) with Mathematics as one of the subjects with not less than sixty percent of the aggregate marks. Aspirants require passing an entrance test conducted by the institute of their choice.
4. Generally, any graduate can apply for MBA program; however, possession of a first degree is compulsory. For the candidates, the minimum marks of 50% in their respective bachelor’s degree would be required. Candidates must have appeared for the entrance exam either in CAT/MAT/CMAT/KMAT and must have scored well to qualify for the test.
5. For Ph.D., programs, the candidates must have a master’s degree in the relevant specialization with at least 60% aggregate. The list of candidates is reviewed and their research interests taken into consideration before they are selected.
The undergraduate engineering programmes take four years to complete and upon completion, the students are awarded a Bachelor of Technology degree. BIT provides BTech degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunications, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Telecommunication Engineering and Biotechnology. Admission is also through Karnataka CET examinations for all the courses offered by the college.
The postgraduate programs that are offered are Master of Technology abbreviated as MTech and Master of Business Administration abbreviated as MBA and each of these courses take 2 years to complete. The course specializations of MTech are almost same as the BTech programs with some more options like Structural engineering, Environmental engineering etc The candidates have to pass GATE exam for MTech and KMAT for MBA.
