Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College Durgapur provides many engineering courses for the undergraduates in different Departments. This branch is in the Computer Science & Engineering department and admission criteria is passing class 12th with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as main subjects for the BTech in Computer Science and Engineering. Admission tests are WBJEE, JEE Main, and SAT examinations. Electrical Engineering offers a course of BTech in Electrical Engineering and the student is required to pass class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Maths and the student can take the exams like JEE Main and WBJEE. In a similar manner, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering provide BTech courses in the respective disciplines and all of them admit students who qualified either WBJEE or JEE Main or passed class 12th with PCM subjects.
Some of the major streams and courses available at Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College Durgapur are: Computer Science & Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronics & Communication Engineering Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering all of which are offered as 4-years B.Tech programs. Some of the major entrance tests are WBJEE 2023 and JEE Main 2023 which the college accepts for admission to these BTech programmes offered under the various categories of the streams subject to the dates to be announced. They still involve passing in these entrance exams, attending the counselling process as a per WBJEEB or JEE Main ranks, selecting their preferred branch of engineering and college, and finally accomplishing other admission procedures within the department upon paying the fees. The process for admission in the academic year 2024 shall start as soon as the exam dates are announced.
1. It has an intake capacity of 120 and students are admitted directly on the basis of the rank secured in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE).
2. It is mandatory for the candidates to have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as main subjects securing 60% marks or above in aggregate for the general category, 55% marks for SC/ST candidates.
3. Through the first preference, they’ll be selecting those students who have passed their 10+2 examination in the same year of admission.
4. The other eligible candidates are the final year students of 10+2 examination those who want to appear in the said examination in the year of admission can also apply. However, they are required to clear pass certificate and mark sheet at the time of admission only.
5. Few seats are set aside for TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) scheme to follow AICTE norms for various disciplines. It works on the basis of WBJEE ranks or merit list for the admission process.
1. Application Process - WBJEEB exam is conducted and the applications are invited through it only for all the B.Tech courses. I undertook the WBJEE examination so I have to appear for that examination.
2. Eligibility Criteria - Has cleared 10+2 examination with minimum five/ five in physics, chemistry and mathematics. The candidate must have a minimum of 60% of marks in total for any recognized university.
3. Important Dates - WBJEE is conducted in April /May every year. Every year, the application form is released in December.
4. Application Fee - This fee for WBJEE is about Rs 500 in case of General candidates.
5. Selection Process - The counseling procedure is conducted as per merit list and ranks obtained in WBJEE. Admission to the college is based on candidates’ rank obtained in WBJEE, preferences submitted and seat availability.
- It has separate intake batches for students admitted through WBJEE (West Bengal Joint entrance Examination ) ranks. The candidates are entitled to write WBJEE and they need to clear the examination.
- After obtaining the WBJEE ranks, counseling takes place in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board in which students select college and branches of their preferential choice. The distribution of seats depends on the rank, preferences made by students when filling their options and the number of available places in each course.
- For admission at BCREC Durgapur in B.Tech, admission factors include WBJEE rank, choice- filling during counseling, cut-off ranks for disciplines, and seat availability
- Cutoff ranks are dynamic in nature and come up each year based on number of aspirants, number of spots for admit etc.
- For the candidates belonging to the reserved category and PwD the rank cutoffs are relaxed as per rules of the government.

2. Ensure that you complete all sections in the application form that may include your personal information, scores in your academics, and contact information among others.
3. Scan and upload photographs, signatures and other necessary documents including Age proof, Educational Certificates.
4. The payment of application fee should also be done in online mode.
5. Bring with you and producing to the licensing authority the original signed copy of the completed application form bearing the application number.
