The Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia West Bengal is a private institution that offers Bachelors and Masters degree in Engineering, Management Sciences, Natural and Social Sciences and Humanities respectively. Some of the most preferred engineering disciplines for pursuing the course in HIT Haldia are Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Future examination schedules to join the 2024 batch are WBJEE which will take place on April 30, 2022 and JEE Main for the session one from January to February in 2024. The admission process includes qualifying examination, counselling registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and then the final admission process by verifying documents if any. The institute admits students of India only, and the applicants have to fulfill program requirements for admission as well as selection criteria.
The admission procedure at HIT Haldia is both online and offline and so students who wish to apply for the admission can do it. The selection criteria for the course depends on the candidate’s merit in class 12th board examination and other entrance test like JEE Mains/WBJEE. Documents Required for Admission in HIT Haldia for Different Courses:
- The students are admitted based on WBJEE ranks but the college can offer up to 20% of direct admission depending on the situation. There are few basic requirements that a candidate needs to fulfill first and one of them is that the candidate has to appear for WBJEE.
- For admission, the candidates should have obtained their 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. There is no minimum percentage required for the general students but for SC/ST students it is 45% and for all other reserved category students it is 60%.
- Admission to these courses is on the basis of merit in a common entrance examination and restricted institutional level counseling conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), for which the seats are allotted. This counselling takes place on the basis of the WBJEE ranks of the candidates.
- Fill up 85% total seats on the basis of WBJEE rankings. Out of total 85% seats are filled through JEE Main ranks while the rest of 15% are available for other categories of students.
- Candidates who have applied for admission in different disciplines of HIT Haldia are also required to clear the cut-off list of the university. These cut-offs may therefore differ one year to the other.
- Furthermore, the candidates must also meet the domicile requirements to be eligible for the domicile quota seats.

2. To apply, select the application form link provided in the page and enter all personal, academic, and contact information as needed. When filling the application make sure you are using the right branch you want to be a part of.
3. Contact the online application portal or as mentioned in the advertisement and make the payment of the application fee. Application fees is normally in the range of approximately 500-1000 Rupees.
4. Upload scanned copies of all required documents such as Photograph, Signature, Class 10 and 12 Marksheets and other documents like Birth certificate, Category certificate etc as per the specifications in MBA.
5. On submitting the form as well as the fees paid, one is allowed to download and print the completed form. Those filled should sign the printout and retain the copy safely for use in future.
6. If your name appears in the shortlist, you will be required to attend for counselling and document verification in accordance with the set time. All the original documents should be taken to be produced when needed.
7. If you have been selected in counselling, then it is a confirmation of your admission and you are supposed to pay admission/semester fees as the case may be before due date.
- The admissions are done through a competitive exam known as the WBJEE conducted jointly for West Bengal university and other institutions. The basic eligibility for the programme is that students must clear WBJEE and make it to the merit list.
- To get admitted for the particular course, students have to attend some counseling sessions where the candidates are given the seats according to their WBJEE ranks, their choices filled and the seats are available for allotment.
- There can be some other norms or standard that the institute may have set in terms of WBJEE ranks, cuts off, subject combinations etc.
- Besides, there may be some seats of WBJEE merit and some may be available under DASA scheme, NRI/PIO etc., depending on the norms fixed for these sections.
- Admission to the B.Tech programs is also offered through lateral entry for the diploma holders seeking admission in the second year of the program. The eligibility and selection is made as per the set criteria recommended for lateral entry.
