IGIT known as Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology is one of the premier Self financing, autonomous institutions located at Sarang, Odisha. It was established in 2013, AICTE approved institute, affiliated to Biju patnaik university of technology, BPUT. The concerned institution – IGIT has been accredited by NAAC and has been awarded a grade ‘A’. According to NIRF ranking 2023, The IGIT has secured the 151st position in the list of top engineering colleges in India.
Primarily the institute provides undergraduate and postgraduate engineering in specialization of Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering disciplines. For B.Tech admissions, the students need to appear for OJEE counseling and for M.Tech admissions, the candidates who clear the GATE are eligible to apply. 1. A candidate is expected to have passed 10+2/intermediate examination or any equivalent examination obtaining not less than 50% marks.
2. To get admission for B.Tech programs a candidate has to obtain a minimum of 60% marks for open category in 10+2 or equivalent examination, while the SC/ST category candidates have to obtain minimum 55% marks.
3. The candidate applying for M.Tech programs should have a B.Tech/BE degree in the respective specialization of the programme with at least 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC/ST).
4. To seek admission in MBA and MCA one have to pass a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
5. To get the admission in the PhD programs the candidate has to secure minimum 55% marks in aggregate in the Master degree in the relevant specialization.
6. For the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD quotas are available as per the norms of the Government of India for admission in different course.
Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology has a training and placement cell where campus placements are arranged every year for the students. Some of the companies that seek the services of the school by offering placement opportunities are Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture, among others. The recruitment drive in 2024 offered the highest salary package up to Rs. 22 lakhs per annum by American Express.
